Maybe it's just a poor example of your interactions with her, but it sounds like you were trying to be a know-it-all, arguing about HER engine failures when she knew exactly why they failed. I'm wondering why she would want to have dinner with YOU?!

Do you knock three times on her door? It all feels a lot like a Sheldon/Penny interaction.

I only wish our next door neighbors were that nice. Ours have barking dogs and are constantly tuning /revving engines and generally being loud and obnoxious.
