Camera Suggestion

I have a customer that is looking for a solution for a camera. They want to be able to take pictures from the camera and have it automatically save to a network folder (Windows domain based network). They want to be at the camera and have the camera operate with a physical button on the camera. They will be 25 ft away from the nearest computer or network jack. A cabled solution is an option.

My thoughts are perhaps a Windows tablet would serve this purpose pretty well? Does anyone have other suggestions for me?

Thank you for any advice you can provide.

Not sure about conventional cameras but iDevices can automatically send to iCloud and SkyDrive. Of course those will automatically populate to the local folder of a machine setup for those accounts.

A tablet can only do so much when acting as a camera. A real camera can be adjusted in a million ways. I think the issue here is the data storage. Many digital cameras can save to remote storage via WIFI but I think most of them require pressing a button to do so. Do they really need to store immediately to the remote storage or can they take the pics, pause when they are done and then press a couple buttons to upload (WIFI) to the storage and then go on ?

I have owned several of the Cannon powershot cameras and love them, I am thinking the next will be the Canon PowerShot N100 when it comes out in May. Its not just a good camera but its also a HD video recorder and is really packed with features.

I use my BlackBerry Z10 for most of my photos here at the lab these days. Photos are automatically uploaded to a folder in my Box account which could be easily synchronized to a folder on a windows system, if that is what you want.

Ok, I guess I am confused, because I thought the memory card goes into the device taking the picture and the remote storage device does not use their memory card. I will check into more about this.

If they are only 25ft from a PC why not just get a camera with a memory card and use a card reader. Then transfer the good photos to the share from said PC.

Samsung Smart cameras have autobackup which will transfer to a PC though.
Samsung WB1100 and up.

Thanks for the ideas everyone!

Because they currently do this at least six times a day and feel like they could save 5 min per 'photo session' if they didn't have to do this. Which could translate into 2.5 hrs per week.
