Brother network printer intermittent access from Mac

I have a client with a networked (wired) Brother color laser printer. In the office is 1 PC and 1 Mac. The PC can print to the Brother without issue. The Mac on the other hand can only print intermittently.

To test things I tried accessing the printers webpage from the Mac when the Mac was unable to print to the printer. The webpage timed out. At the same time I could access the webpage and print from the PC without issue.

I assumed it was a printer sleep mode type issue, but after waking the printer with the PC print, the Mac was still unable to connect to the printer.

Eventually it will print, but I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason.

Any ideas?

Make sure the correct drive is installed as opposed to whatever generic driver software update may have pulled down for it.

You could also make sure bonjour is running on the printer. I think it's off by default. Probably won't make a difference, but try it anyway.
