Bouncing Checks

Wait, why would you be taking checks for 12 dollars, I won't even look at a potential customer for less than $19.95

I wanted to get some extra toppings.

Nah, not really. It wasn't for service, he came in and bought a small amount of cat5 from us. All three checks were for material things, not service.

That is the exact reason I don't sell parts off the shelf :P

The cat5 was the ONLY thing we've sold in a while....and only because the dude was a friend. I've actually told my business partner that I don't want us selling parts without them attached to a workorder....

The thing is, though; The way we do most of our workorders, the customer pays our labor fee up front before we do any work, and pay for parts when they pick up the system. So, we usually dont take a bunch of small payments, but sometimes can if the parts are inexpensive....

Whatever....I'm rambling. My point wasn't about the amounts, I think maybe you're reading too much into the dollar amounts....

Last month I got a bounced check. And I only blame myself because I left it for to long before processing the check. The customer had money in the account when he gave me the check. Now I will get the money in 2 instalments.... Well, that's life, and life is not easy for most of us these days.

I was looking into doing electronic check processing, but I don't take enough checks to make it worth my time. I like the idea, because checks are instantly verified and deposited with my credit card batch...and electronic transactions come out of the account before paper checks. I just don't like the idea of paying even more overhead and think it'd be easier to say "No checks".

My bank will let me deposit 3 times and I especially use it for small amounts. If the guy won't pay you, at least he'll have to pay his bank $75 or more. I have no patience with this kind of thing - the gloves come off and we go to the mat.
