Hi all just looking to find out what other Canadians are using for remote support payment. I'm just getting into more remote support coming from a mobile service. Is paypal virtual terminal our best option right now? (for my mobile support I was using square pay) and it worked ok

and 2nd I'm looking for a back up solution with unlimited that i can offer to customers in a bundle where I pay for it add it into my managed services package then bill the customer type of thing.

thanks
M

and yes I have bought call that girls book :)

I can't recommend one over the other, but when you're looking around, know that a *lot* of merchant processors have specific restrictions on companies that do remote tech support. Best to check the fine print.

Some allow it if you have bricks and mortar + remote, some don't allow it at all.

I've used Square here in Canada, but have paypal as a backup, otherwise cash/cheque is also standard practice.

As for remote software. Depending if your a 1-5 employee shop, GotoAssist works great.
-100 unattended computer access
-As many sessions open at once (Per technician licence)
-Integrated it using our custom coding to our site rather than redirecting to Citrix's portal
-Great logging
-Works on slow speeds and has file transfer and quick system survey controls
-Supporting remote access *to* android devices and possibly Apple mobile products (Mac of course supported)
-Look out for promo codes, paying about $50/month for a single user licence

I've looked at screen connect and their purchase license is appealing, along with local control of the software being hosted on your own server. (Can be a draw back) But I couldn't get past the one session open at a time per technician. (When I connect to a corporate account, I'll at times multi task through 5+ systems at a time)

It really boils down to what your company needs, and where to start. Teamviewer was one of my starts, then gotomeeting, then gotoassist and I haven't found anything to beat it out.

There are a couple of local companies doing online/cloud backups and have offered us reseller opportunities, but would require us to complete multiple training seminars and be responsible for every aspect, except for the billing with minimal return. Are you looking to host the backups yourself? Resell? or Affiliate with another company?

As far as a Remote Support backup I would def. suggest ScreenConnect. You do need to buy the proper number of licenses so you can remote control the number of clients you fell you will need, it is a pay once and use forever piece of software [unless you want to move up to a newer major release - v4 to v5 for example].

We have been using it as a replacement for TeamViewer and it is head and shoulders above that. We use it instead of the Kaseya remote support software as well for our MSP clients.

Another vote for GotoAssit. It works great.

I'm surprised more people don't use it. (or recommend it)
