I have an attorney customer that uses TimeMatters software. They are upgrading to the new version and I see in the TM requirements that if you use Office 2016, then it must have a Click-to-Run installation for the integration with Outlook to work.
I should probably know this, but if you purchase a Product Key Card perpetual version of Office H&B, then do the install by creating a Microsoft account for the company, do you end up with a Click-to-Run installation or an MSI installation?
If it is MSI and you have to go O365 to get CTR, then this will be the first situation that forced a client to O365 for me (too many acronyms in one sentence, I know.)
