Apple CarPlay - Anyone Using in the Car?

What carrier are you with? There seems to be some good deals on iPhone 6s floating around if you wanted to upgrade to an inexpensive iPhone that would be compatable with iOS 12

I have the feature in an after market head unit and don’t use it that much. I probably should use it as it’s there to use.
Rogers here in Canada.
I suppose I should look around for a sale.

Confirmed that Waze works with Apple CarPlay...just came back from Florida last night and my wife had plugged in her phone (to charge) in the Jeep Cherokee we rented...and it popped up on the screen and...she went checking it out. Pretty much just an extension of her phone...in the car. I don't know if it's "all apps" that were on her phone become available..or not, but she has Waze on her phone and it was there (although I vastly prefer Google Maps).

Forgot to mention this. When I was driving back to the airport after Christmas I did discover that, while locked out of Waze on the dash screen, I was able to use it while moving by interacting on the iPhone. I also think I had to say I was a passenger or something like that.

As I said earlier - I will need to mount the new IPhoneX within easy reach and easily visible.

Why do you prefer Google Maps?
I definitely do like the 'Lane Assist' feature.
However, I miss Waze's speedometer, speed limits and warnings.

To me, Google Maps is more...tradtiional, straight up navigation. Waze is more...hard to say, but has that social media twist to it that I find too "for kids" like. And advertising. I don't need it to tell me my speed or warn about going too fast...I have a speedometer right on my cars dashboard for that. For construction and traffic jams...I find Google Maps is more than accurate enough. Heck it leverages location services in "all" the cell phones stuck in traffic jams, I don't need to rely on potentially inaccurate or overhyped or opinionated input from member users like Waze.

I'm not aware of any features Waze has that I want or miss or feel Google Maps is lacking.
I'm not sure if Waze has a feature Google Maps has...since I use Chrome pretty much all the time on my computers, and have it signed into Google, as is my Pixel Android phone, I can plot a course on my computer at home or in the office, and when I get to my truck..pull up Google Maps on my phone and my plot I just did on my computer is there.

Unsure how long they'll be separate services/apps anyways, since Google bought up Waze a few years ago.

I admit that my sense of direction on the road is not good at all.
Every few months, I will set both Waze and Google Maps to go to the same destination at the same time.
I find that they both get me there at more or less the same time.
However, I think that at the start of the journey, Google Maps e.t.a. is off more than Waze but tends to refine itself closer to the destination.

One other thing that I noticed last week is that in Waze, the street names en route all appear horizontal which is good.
In Google Maps, some were horizontal and others vertical.

My daughter is big on Waze. I wasn't so thrilled. I really used to like Maps on iOS but have gotten really tired of it's mis-directions. Way more than any other, as much as 2-3% of the time I use it. So pretty much Google Maps.

I use this all the time in my car. Love the Hands free when talking to people on the phone. The apps I use the most are the Podcast, Google Maps when going to clients and Waze in general traffic lol.

Why Google Maps vs. Waze and vice versa?

Google Maps integrates with Repairshopr iPhone app that I use when looking to get to a clients home that I've never been to or forget how to get there. Waze I generally just go when I am on the interstate or traveling. More down to just personal preference I guess.
