Hi,

I was wondering if any of you find acronis slow. I am using Back & recovery workstation and the speeds are so slow. I am looking for other options as their support is a bit crap, slow email replied. Live chat tell you to email when they cant help.

Shadow Protect looks good, another tool not so well know is HDClone by Miray. Ive heard good things about Macrium reflect too. Tired Paragon that's slow too. Shadow protect seem to work really fast.

Thanks

We have always had great luck with Easues Todo backup workstation and server. use it all the time.

What I like about Acronis is the cloning... I can clone to a smaller hard drive and what I don't like about ShadowProtect is that if I want to create a backup of a hard drive and then copy that to a smaller drive, I can't.
I have lots of hard drives, so I'll deal with the slower speed and clone to a smaller hard drive. I can always do a ShodowProtect backup from that smaller drive if I need to.
I haven't really noted a slowing down in using Acronis.

I was very happy with Acronis starting off with the home version then buying Backup & Recovery. Clones were good and quick. Then I had a problem about 6 months ago when I cloned my main drive to a SSD. Later that installation failed and went back to the original drive and I had nothing but constant problems involving being on the phone to Acronis(and remote) for over 2 hours. It got working then shortly afterwards I bot more problems. the licencing and services(10 I think) make it so complex which is fine while it was working. I tried Paragon but found it too slow then Shadow Protect which is rock solid but doesn't have the features as mentioned before. I hope StorageCraft increase the feature set of Shadow Protect.

I have Acronis on all my office PCs and do regular backups.

Had a problem one time where the backup times were what I expected for all machines except one. That one's backup time was consistently longer than I thought it should be. Did a little digging and discovered I had inadvertently turned on sector-by-sector backup. Turned it off and backup time was normal.

Maybe something to look at if you think a backup is taking longer than you think reasonable.
