Interested in what other people are using for their managed clients for Anti-Virus & Anti-Malware and their reasons. I use Sophos at the minute, like the central management and network installation easy. But with having to change over to their cloud version, server protection is so much more expensive.

I'm using Simple-Help for my RMM which doesn't have a AV option build in. Anybody got any experience of webroot?

That is not an RMM. All that does is provide remote access to a machine. A true RMM does much more. The link below is not an endorsement of this particular platform, but it does offer an explanation of what an RMM should be capable of. They are very different animals compared to what you seem to think.

If you buy a business or enterprise licence with Simple-Help you get remote management and monitoring.

Still rough around the edges and you need to be comfortable writing scripts as there is no base library to use, but the functionality is there. The missing part is the reporting. I have only been using Simple-Help use before Christmas so I'm still learning but some of the scripts\alerts I have in place are:

1. If free disk space falls below 10% run my disk clean up script
2. At 6pm on a Wednesday run Windows Update on Clients PCs and log the results (ABC-Update Script)
3. Run my Weekly & Monthly maintenance scripts automatically
4. Email me if a Server goes offline and when it goes back online

I used solarwinds for a number of years on my just my customer's servers that cost £65 per month. (£780 per year) The simple-help licence cost £330 and I'm running it on 300 plus clients so far, solarwind would cost £614 per month for that many clients. I'm happy with my choice, it doesn't have all the features of solarwinds, but has the ones I used the most for a fraction of the cost.

Fair enough, and I get the choices/trade-offs made. I've not looked at Simplehelp for some time, mainly because I don't want the hassle of setting up and maintaining my own server or the potential liability. Not my cup of tea but it doesn't need to be either. I'm currently using Kaseya's VSA and Bitdefender Gravityzone for a flat $2.00 per endpoint. Not as cheap as a one-time purchase but substantially less than many others without AV.

To more directly address your question, I've used BD GZ for several years and have good confidence in it.

Bitdefender Gravityzone seems to be very popular! Why is that? Good reseller rates or because its built into your RMM

There's a number of reasons it is highly regarded. I can't speak to margins as that varies with the partner you purchase through and the scale at which you buy. It does consistently score at or near the top in independent tests year after year. Others seem to fluctuate in their test results more than BD. Having high, stable confidence in the effectiveness of the product is a big plus. For me, the caliber of the product matters more than the margins.

While nothing is perfect, the management dashboard is extensive in its capabilities. Integrations with other dashboards are growing to allow some management functions from within the RMM rather than having to open its own dashboard. Consistently solid product.

I just make sure Defender is configured correctly via my RMM.

But, I saw something horrible mentioned, and I wanted to beg once more in the name of all that is good and right in the world, do NOT use webroot!

As for why, try removing it without the back end... And yes, you will have to do that, everyone does... someday.

For an MSP, it's easiest for you, and usually most cost effective, to use the AV integrated with your RMM. So you can provision each computer right from within the RMM, and your AV purchases/licensing follows the RMM profiles you have out there.

We've used Bitdefender for many years now. When we were with Solarwinds, it was included in N-Central (although a bit dumbed down) We've switched to Syncro, so now we use the GravityZone Bitdefender....which unleashes all of the granular settings.

We've also been Eset partners since waaaaay back before most people heard of it, we started with them when it was at version 2.50.
My colleague still uses it a lot.

I also hate webroot with a strong passion. Had taken over many clients whos prior IT used that, and I've had a huge mess to clean up. Always messes up the TCP stack pretty badly. It's at there point where, if I'm to take over any computers that had WR on them, I'll nuke 'n pave 'em.

Read your post above - I said "Solarwinds BD != BDGZ", you responded "Yes, it is.". I disagree, so responded "No, it isn't".
Ok, I didn't see there was any disagreement. Given that BD offers several different products I suppose it's possible SW could offer a different product. It's been a while since I've used SW. If so, that would be news to me. If what SW offers isn't a stripped-down version of BDGZ perhaps you could enlighten me on what exactly it is?
