Another Ubiquiti project underway....

Friend opening a new brewery, my Comcast rep just put in a new fast pipe, putting in an all Ubiquiti stack.
USG, cloud key, 16 port POE switch, couple of Pro APs, NVR, and cameras.View attachment 7382
Why are you using the Cloud Key when you have your controller? I have never used a cloud key before, but my understanding is it just a controller on a stick. If that's the case why not use your controller or use the EdgeMax equipment?

I don't want the overhead of maintaining our own controller...it's not so much the cost, but the time to upgrade it...and the time spent to troubleshoot something that didn't upgrade correctly. It upgrades smoothly, it backs up, and...it's not a single point of failure such as our own cloud controller was. If the cloud site goes offline, no biggie, we can still log into the local controller locally. With our cloud controller..if it went down, we had no access to 65 or 70 client sites...we're dead! Single point of failure.

Using Ubiquitis new FREE cloud proxy, unifi.ubnt.com, you bind all of the local controller installs to that, be those local controller installs on clients hardware, or, a Cloud Key, or some little box you installed...and the new unifi.ubnt.com proxies your browser to any client you choose, it's a multi-tenant portal.

All new Ubiquiti clients...we put on cloud key and bind to Unifi.UBNT. And we're slowly moving existing Unifi clients to it.

Anyways...aside from the 40-ish bucks a month cost, I just don't want the maintenance overhead anymore. I'm trying to free up my time more...getting closer to retirement.

I'm wicked anxious to have you post your finished config since as you know I just got done deploying a very similair scenario. I want to get a peek at the config and see what I can learn from it. Have fun!!

My beer story for the night is a bit different. Went to a local taphouse with a customer last week and got to talking with the owner there. Handed off my card after chatting and lo and behold he calls me a few hours ago. He was enjoying some of his product while working away on his laptop and had a wee bit of an accident. He instantly thought of me and called me up!! I might have a few free pints coming my way after a successful data recovery!

Will be good.

I'm not a huge fan of the ubnt camera but they do work well enough

I run a cloud controller. It's like 5 minutes of work a month.

Remember the cams have mics may need to disable in your state
