i have a tablet running ANDROID 4.0, but thinking about getting an iphone
would ie be better to get a phone running ANDRIOD instead?

ANDROID or IOS???

nVidia or ATI?
AMD or Intel?
Coke or Pepsi?

Personal choice dude!

I don't like the birkenstoks and patchouli that surrounds the Apple camp....so I prefer Windows and Android!

I have had both android and ios phone and tablets. I have switched completely to ios as I prefer it for quite a few reasons. I like the fact that apple is a lot more strict on the application approval process. Also apple has a lot more apps that android.

That was true years ago...no longer though....if taking it factually.
Google has passed Apple for numbers of apps for their phones. Apple hold a "small" lead if you add in their ipad (since not all apps in itunes run on iphones...some are ipad only)

As of some survey early this past summer...
apps for iphone 500,000
apps for droids 600,000
apps for iphones and ipads 700,000

I will agree that Apple is more strict on quality control for the application process..what's the term..."vesting"? Google allows almost anything in there.

I too prefer iOS after through tests with both android and iOS.

1. Battery life is better

This is typical of comparing some Windows computers against Apple computers.
People typically pick cheap Windows computers...or cheap Android phones..and compare against its Apple counterpart. They'll pick some $499 best buy Celeron or AMD special computer with inadequate RAM, and compare it against a $2k Apple computer. This is really just comparing sour grapes to apples! Why not take a good quad core fancy graphics card tons of RAM fast HDD Windows computer that costs $2k and compare it against the $2K Apple? So you're really comparing Apples to Apples...to abuse the pun!

Same with phones...did you at least compare a dual core phone with adequate RAM? Battery life is more a function of the phone hardware itself...I'd offer the Motorola Razr Maxx for your battery tests! You can go for 3 or 4 usable days without hunting for an outlet! I think the actual useful talk time is over 20 hours straight of talking charge.

What version of Android and what cell provider skin are you using to compare against the Apple? Since cell brands (like Sprint or Verizon) skin the OS with their own tweak. And what version of Android OS. Their newer Ice Cream Sandwich is pretty danged smooth.

But similar to the computer comparison I illustrated above.>I see a lot of people that went cheap and got some base model HTC or LG Android phone or whatever came free with the base contract......and hate it (what did they really expect for the bottom line phone)..and then go out and spend a few hundge on an upgrade to an iPhone and love it. yeah..wasn't a fair comparison there!

A couple of years back, there was an emulation project which enabled an iPhone to run android OS.

Dual boot.

Best of both worlds.

I have an iPad and an Android phone, my wife and son have iPhone and I can't wait my contract finish in few months to get an iPhone too, 3 times I have to reset my Android to factory default, this Android OS is a piece of junk. Android phone are popular because they give you one free with a a 2 or 3 years contract, iPhone, you have to pay an extra.

Depends on what flavor and brand you are talking about ... my Nexus S 4g I have NEVER reset in the year I have had it ... matter of fact it has worked flawlessly. I remarked the other day to a friend of mine who asked me about my experience with my phone since he is wanting to get rid of his iPhone for an Android or Windows 8 phone and he cant make up his mind that my Android phone is pretty much free of any issues so far *knock on wood*. also they did not "give" it to me to renew my contract ( maybe its different for Canadian carriers? ) ... dont get me wrong I have seen carriers offer one for new service or at a vastly reduced rate but I dont see them giving them away because they cant sell them.

I point this out since you seem to suggest that they give them away due to them being junk... which is not the case.

My wifes iPhone...she had to factory reset that sucker at least a half dozen times when she got it..and still once a month or so she has to do that forced hard reboot trick.

Meanwhile..my "non free" upper end model (meaning the best model Verizon had that month) Android purrs along nicely.

Clunky interface? Even on free Metro POS phones nothing is clunky.. Go spend 200 dollars on an android phone and I dare you to call it clunky or notice a difference in performance between an iphone 5. And if you can kill the battery on it before bedtime, you're a 12 year old girl that does nothing but facebook and text all day.

Did you sleeve the power cable for your charger? I heard that helps.

To be honest I'm a member of the Android crowd that is starting to go towards iOS. My reasoning is simple.

1. Updates - Apple pushes OS updates to every iOS device as long as the hardware supports the updates.

2. Consistency - There are two different iPhone sizes and soon to be two different iPad sizes. Connectors are, with the exception of the iPhone5 and possibly the iPad mini, the same and in the same location. Even though the 5 has a different connector it can still use any device that supports iPods, iPads, or iPhones. Accessories for the most part are compatible between generations.

3. Resale - iOS devices hold their value very well.

Android on the other hand is a mess on all fronts.

I just bought an iPad and my next phone is going to be an iPhone.

Want to clarify that a bit? I have never had a problem with any of my Androids nor has my daughter who has a Galaxy II and also my girlfriend so I find this statement confusing...

That would be like me saying iPhones are a mess on all fronts and expecting you to just accept it as fact.

Sorry about that.

I have had three Android phones. HTC Incredible and Thunderbolt and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Both HTC phones got maybe one or two OS updates and some minor bugfixes. The Nexus has gotten some updates since I got it, but the carriers have too much control.

If you get an Android device most accessories that you bought will not work with your next Android.

Right now verizon is selling the Galaxy Nexus at $99 (subsidized) and it has been out about 9-10 months. iPhone 4s is about $100 cheaper per model than the iPhone 5.
