Android or ios

Sorry about that.

I have had three Android phones. HTC Incredible and Thunderbolt and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Both HTC phones got maybe one or two OS updates and some minor bugfixes. The Nexus has gotten some updates since I got it, but the carriers have too much control.

If you get an Android device most accessories that you bought will not work with your next Android.

Right now verizon is selling the Galaxy Nexus at $99 (subsidized) and it has been out about 9-10 months. iPhone 4s is about $100 cheaper per model than the iPhone 5.

Still don't get it. What do you need updated?? I rooted my phone over a year and a half ago and have been running the same rom, no updates since. Oh ya, maybe if google made some retarded version of maps and forced its use on everyone, or charged wifi as if it were 3g, I would need 7 updates a month.. :p

What accessories are we talking about?? Most android phones are micro USB, so chargers and cables are interchangeable. You can't put an iphone 4 case on an iphone 5, so not sure what your argument is. Damn, my 3 dollar gel case that has protected my phone through about 100 drops isn't going to work on my S3..

They do have slightly better resale, but the iphone 4s is also 99 on verizon right now.. Ya you could probably sell it for more than a year old android to some hipster desperate to get an iphone, but you also paid more for it.. I bought my EVO for 60 bucks 2 years ago(no activation either) and I'm going to sell if for at least that much or more in the next month.

Android or IOS? I have clients, friends, and even people I barely know ask me this same questionn.
My answer is almost always, "yes".

How can someone tell you what you will like or dislike? Phones are no longer phones, they are so much more personal of a device now. When someone presses me for my opinion when referring to android/ios or mac/pc I tell them this:

In my house we have an iMac, macbook, macbook pro, 3 windows desktops, 2 linux laptops, 1 windows laptops, 1 iphone, 2 android phones, one windows server, 2 linux servers, 1 BSD server, 2 ipads, and an old IBM that still boots WARP 4.

And what I point out to them from this statement is that everything has its uses, everything has its pros, and everything has its cons. No matter what they get it is going to do what they want, and not do what they want. And that my suggestion to them is to get what they can afford, can easily get help with, may alreay be familiar with, or just get what they think they may like the most.

I had iPhones for years, jailbroken of course. When the iphone 5 came out I was not impressed with it and got a SGS3. I love it! But I don't hate my iphone4. The SGS3 just did more of what I needed it to do and is more of what I need from a single portable device right now than the iphone5 can be to me. In a year or two I may be singing a different tune if apple releases another phone, but only time will tell. I love the android OS, but I also love IOS. In my personal opinion IOS is more beautiful and user friendly. But an old fart like me doesn't care about the beauty, and I'm technically inclined enough to use something less user friendly. So it's a moot point.
I will say this though. I do see a better user experience with the ipad over android tablets though. There is just something about the way the ipad apps look, work, etc that is lacking in the android tablets. But seing as a person can get an android tab for half the price of an ipad - then maybe they can over look that if money is a major concern.

See how it all works out? It's all too personal of a choice. Both have advantages and disadvantages when compared to one-another. I do not see one as being "better", I only see them as being diferent. And I pick the best tool for the job for "me".

Personally, I'm a pretty big Android fan. I'm on Virgin Mobile, so options are fairly limited. I've had a Motorola Triumph and currently have an HTC Evo V (renamed Sprint HTC Evo 3D). If I had to pick a couple points out it would these: micro-SD card slot, and easily removable battery. I've got a giant extended life battery in my Evo that will take the beating I give it and it will still go two days without charging. With the iPhone, you get what Apple wants you to have, and that's it.

It all comes down to personal preference.

However I have an old 3GS which i have had nothing but crappy experiences with in the past.. and me being a penguin fan.. im looking into buying an android.

Im looking into buying this for around $400 http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_optimus_4x_hd_p880-4563.php

LG have always been really sluggish but I think this one might be a bit of a game changer at a resonable price

I have to say from what I know the Android 4+ devices are pretty good. where as the previous versions aren't really worth mentioning.

Try not to compare android directly with IOS ,instead if anything at all , compare particular brands and models of phone you are thinking about purchasing and be sure the at least checkout some reviews.

Also ask yourself what do you need from the phone

just quickly ..

my point of my previous post is just to remind you Android vs iOS is hard to compare becuase you need to compare as previous posts mentioned apples with apples.

e.g if you compare a iphone 3GS with a Iphone 5 or Android 4 device with a first gen IOS device, the comparison becomes unfair

:-)

My first smartphone was a Samsung i530 (Palm)
Then I went to a massive i730 (windows mobile.)
Then Iphone3g, then 3gs.

Now I am rocking AND loving my HTC Thunderbolt. If you don't plan on doing anything advanced with your phone an Iphone is ok, but I love:

NO ITUNES (YES!)
No proprietary file formats
The ability to turn any audio file on the phone into a ringtone.
I can push and pull albums, songs, or movies from my Laptop to my phone to my desktop.
I can play things like Midis / stuff does not have to be encoded 'just so'
I can upgrade my storage
I can replace my battery without a screwdriver.
Application development/debugging mode.

Cons: Does not work with any of the docks or cars we have that have a 30 pin dock connector.
