So folks, I haven't asked for a bit about a hardware issue(?) which I am experiencing so here goes.

I've been tasked with reloading Windows 7 Pro x64 on Fujitsu LIFEBOOK T731 Notebook / Tablet computers. Everything is well covered from Fujitsu's driver download website. I used the Serial# and the Configuration P/N's for the search. However there are no specific driver(s) for the ACPI\ACPI0008 Ambient Light Sensor available for Windows 7 (Professional x64 in this case) that I can find - ANYWHERE!!

I've looked and looked and looked. And before any of you suggest that I use "SDI" to load the drivers for these units - that's a BIG no-no! I have found that SDI's installation of drivers really messed up the O/S load and forced me to do a wipe and reload of the O/S. I did run SDI after a fresh load of the O/S with the drivers from Fujitsu to see if it (SDI) would find the Ambient Light Sensor and still nothing!

So I'm just about game for a resolution to this issue - short of running some sort of driver identifier software of which I do not like to do. I'd much rather find the original driver that Fujitsu used with this setup than some generic fix (if at all possible).

So, anyone have an ideas?

Thanking you in advance.

Is the light sensor even turned on in the BIOS?

Windows should have a built in driver for that function.

I usually shut off the sensor myself, I find them annoying and prefer to control the brightness myself.

I just checked Fujitsu's driver page and found what you did...nothing close to the ALS.

Could it be included with the display's drivers since the sensor is probably part of the LCD?

Shoot a quick email to Fujitsu support.

I'm not a fan of these sensors either. We just bought a new TV and my wife complained that the display was too dark. After surfing countless menus and sun menus I found a setting called ECO which I disabled.

OK. So I found it / them. But the driver is not an individual available driver from the Fujitsu support site.

I had created a custom installation ISO for Windows 7 x64 Pro using a couple of files (including a roll-up from April of 2016 I believe) and found that doing an install like that somehow would "bork" the update capabilities of the loaded O/S as well as cause some of the drivers to not properly load. So I decided to do a clean install of the O/S from an original (non-modified) downloaded ISO from M$ and all is well - other than it takes forever to get all of the updates downloaded and installed (of course).

Good ol' Mickey$haft.

So I have marked this as being solved. Thanks for everyones input.
