Amazon has some decent content for streaming movies and TV. Since I already have Prime, it makes sense to use it. XBMC provides live streaming from loads of worldwide sources.
Also, it costs much less than an HTPC, takes up less space and uses less power than an HTPC, and has apps for Youtube and other sources you would expect to use on an HTPC.
The biggest advantage is that it doesn't have Windows!
