Am I setting up Office 2013 correctly?

Just bought and installed 10 copies of Office 2013. Used an email address to register and install.

I wrote the name of the computers on the product key cards that came in the box and stored them in a closet. When I log into the associated Microsoft Office Account, I don't see any product keys, just a giant list of Office 2013 installations, I've installed over the month. There is no identifying list online?

If a computer dies and need to transfer the Office to another computer, can I simply use the correct card's product key? I know Office 2013 can now be transferred.

There seems to be major problems with the Office 2013 Installation. I just installed Office 2013, for the first time, under a customer's Account, after a long trial and error session.

They had no Microsoft Account, so I went to setup one for them and get this message.

Microsoft Account:
There's a temporary problem.
There's a temporary problem with the service. Please try again. If you continue to get this message, try again later.

The customer is paying me per minute to setup their computer. I shouldn't have to explain to them that Microsoft won't let me install Microsoft Office.
Is Microsoft actually serious? This cannot be the Office Installation.

What is the best way to install, without a Microsoft Account? I cannot waste another 35 min., trying to get Microsoft to make an Account

if you access the website a certain # of times in a given day from the same ip it gives that error. This new office 2013 sucks because of the account creation.

Bill, this is not the problem.

Three different times, from three different client locations are having this message.
What is going on. We are wasting so much time install Office, when a new Microsoft Account is required.

I do not understand why this keeps happening.

3 PC's that had Office 2013 successfully activated on them are now being notified as unactivated. Office was actually deactivated from saving any files.

I had to go into a clients office just to activate them over the phone, again. Online activation would not work. Calling Microsoft customer support was no help. They continue to tell me they have never heard of this problem before. Well, I never had this problem with Office 2010.

Microsoft's Phone activation system is also highly disrupted by any background noise.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? I keep running into this problem all the time with retail copies of Microsoft Office 2013, purchased from genuine retail distributors.

The only reason I can think of, is that an Office 2013 installation did not originally go through with activation to the Microsoft account. Thus the one faulty activation is hopping from computer to computer in the office, every time it gets fixed, deactivating another computer's Office.

But still, this would not explain why 3 different computers suddenly deactivated Office 2013, without warning, after I had received a message that it had been successfully activated, on all 3 of these machines.

I don't see how Office can take back an activation. This is the worst problem I've ever had with Microsoft.

Anyone know what is going on?

Hmm...not sure what's happening there, but you could always try signing the customer up for a Outlook.com account if the live ID sign up page isn't working?

Office 2k13 is horrible imo. Anyone needing office, I find them a link on amazon for the 2k10 version. As far as this issue, the few times I've installed it, it went through after going through the MS account crap.

I just don't understand Microsoft. I mean I get it in the sense that they are just trying to get more money for the product, but the product sucks now. 2013 offers nothing better than 2010 that I can see. Someone enlighten me if I'm missing something.

I've only ever setup Office 2k13 once. They EU bought them from Staples and was not able to get beyond the first installation up and running. After much futzing around determined that the only way to get it properly registered was to login into the web interface on each machine or something like that (was 6 months ago). The built in process inside of office did not work.

Setup 2013 for the first time as a favor for a friend of a friend who hit a new dell With older versions there used to be an icon or at least something in the start menu to launch off ice and set up but on this PC I had to go into computer, c:\ programs, folder to find office and launch it. It kept trying to get me to create an outlook.com account but then what I did was clicked on a document and it didn't ask to creat an account. Older woman she would of understood it.

The only difference I see between 2010 and 2013 is this

it's blue
it's floaty feeling
no good upgrades
I think I remember 2 good new features, but I don't recall off hand, so they are not that important ( and I use outlook 2013 all day now)

Ive had the same issue @ my 9-5. we have 30 -40 installs added, after a few weeks we now get an error when logging in and can no longer see the list of keys.

We have had to create a new account to continue activating and now i always add the name of the system on the box and also note both the box key and the offline CD key available from MS website when you choose to install from CD to a spreadsheet.
