Hi, I'm no networking expert, I googled but didn't have much luck. I have a auto mechanic with this ALLData Manage program(http://www.alldata.com/manage/) and he had a HD crash, he took it to my competitor and now hes unable to restore his backed up data files. I found no issues with vista, however I did get a message that I restored the files successfully using the programs restore function, however then when I open the program it says its unable to find a database- error 1003, something about computer name or server not right. This is a program that requires a monthly payment to keep the database updated, he just wants to access his customer data. Anyways, my question is, I have the old hard drive, I can access all the files (makes we wonder why it was replaced) and I'm thinking maybe when they did the new install they gave the computer a diff name. Is there any way to reveal the old name from the old hard drive?

Call alldata for support i've called them numerous times and they always help.

OMG, she said his account was behind in payment, so she wouldn't help. I just wasted 2 hrs trying restore his data, only to find he hasn't paid his bill, perfect. But you would think I could still at least access his customer database file. Geez, do you suppose he complained to my competitor that he couldn't open his accts, so they replaced his hard drive?? ouch!

Personally I would not waste time on it. No idea what your competitor did or if the name would actually matter. Tell the customer to pay his dang bill and you can help him. If he's not concerned with paying the bill what's to say he will pay you.

Exactly what I was thinking, how annoying. He got my name from a happy customer who thinks I can fix everything, not unpaid bills however, probably thought I would hack it:mad:
