ADVENT 5411 Touchpad going CRAZY - tried drivers etc

The touchpad on this laptop is going crazy. I have tried various drivers for it but no good. I know btw I shouldn't have bought Advent because the support is awful but sometimes the touchpad works fine.

Problems - Touchpad moving cursor on it own in circles
- No support on currys / techguys website - limited drivers.

Heres the link to the details of it. I hope someone will have some usefull pointers. Would a BIOS update help, if so I can't find any new versions.

Thanks everyone :)

Is this your computer or a customers? Anyway, if it's that much of a hassle and no software/driver updates are correcting the problem then it may be a hardware issue with the touchpad itself. Disable the touchpad, buy an external mouse, and be done with it.

Thanks for the quick reply guys, appreciate that. Yes it is my laptop but recently bought a new one but im hoping to get this one up for sale. Its in very good condition but unsure of the price to ask if I cant get the problem sorted.

I have also tried to disable the touchpad but it will not let me at all. The fn + touchpad key doesn't let me, also in control panel it wont let me disable it. All other fuctions work correctly.

Also I think i'll run Linux cd to see if it works with that.

Tested in Linux mint - Touchpad Working - Its a start

Hi guys I have now tested the touchpad thoroughly in linux mint and it appears that it is working great.

I would now assume that the problem is a drivers issue on windows vista.
I am now wondering if i can source a suitable driver for it.

Wouls a dell one work perhaps or similar - Id love to get this sorted.

Most touchpads that I have come across require synaptics drivers. Visit their site and download the vista driver and see if that resolves the problem. Keep us updated.

Problem SOLVED !

Hi guys cheers for the help and suggestions. Yesterday I tried a synaptics driver for a Dell Inspiron 6000 and this fixed the problem. It also makes the 5411 touchpad alot more precise.

So anyone having the same problem could easily download the driver from dell or Synaptics. :D:D
