Adult Websites

I have a couple of safe ones if anyone wants a few more :) I wouldn't mind getting a few more either so if you have some then please PM me.

All for professional reasons, of course. No, really ... :D

Clients who continue to return to such sites and become infected probably deserve it really. I just charge to clean the PC, if they want to become infected thats their business.

I wouldn't ever reccomend porn sites to a client lol. Preventing these problems by showing them "clean" sites will probably come back to bite you.

The way I handle this stuff is - say for example:
A client calls with a faulty DVD ROM, I go on site and install a new one, charge... Notice the computer is full of spyware, offer to clean it at additional charge. Preventative measures will stop them from needing another call out, so you make less. Unless ofcourse they are a loyal customer or a friend of something, but if its a one off job I will only fix the problem specified and make them aware of other issues.

People who go to dodgy sites are almost a main source of income, because they don't know better and will continue to do it. Kinda like people who smoke, they know its damaging thier system, but they will pay to continue doing it.

Sounds a bit harsh eh :P

The harsh part is not offering them the tools they need to keep their computer safer. Even well-known websites have been compromised and offered up malware.

As professionals, we tell customers how to better protect themselves in this Internet world full of criminals -- instead of allowing them to go out unprepared so we can make more money from the same thing every month.

That reminds me of the coffee shop owner who had Wi-Fi for her customers. She had some techs install the Wi-Fi. Every month or two she had to call them to come reset the router and reconfigure it. She gave me a crack at it. I found that the particular model of router was well known for losing its settings. The original techs should have sold her a new router or replaced the original one as defective. Now that would be customer service to brag about. I sold her the new router and installed it. End of problems.

So I didn't get $100 every month from her to reconfigure the same bad router, but I did get her recommendation to her customers and picked up more business that way.
