Acer M1640 and XP usb

I am trying to do an XPP install on an Acer M1640 (GeForce 7100 / NVIDIA nForce 620i chipset) and i have gotten it installed but now whenever i install a USB mouse or keyboard...pretty much anything besides my external hard drives i get "the data is invalid" error and it wont work, it recognizes the mouse or whatever but just gives me that error. Could any one help point me in the right direction of what to try i having a hard time finding any drivers for this thing and after getting so close i dont wanna give up

I also tried a PCI USB card...has the same issues
