This is just a helpful tip to anyone installing windows 7 on certain acer laptops...
situation:
-did a fresh install of win7
-activated, installed drivers & updates as usual.
-went to shut down, and system would mostly shut down (screen off, HD off, but fans would remain on.)
-Found out that the model I was working on had to do the following install procedure:
-load windows setup as normal, clear off all partitions with the setup program
-exit the setup program/reboot
-If the "press any key to Boot from CD/DVD..." screen pops up, donot press any key let it load the setup program on its own.
-then install as you normally would.
