I have a client who is absolutely anal when it comes to "security" of his clients data, which is respectable, but he still prefers that clients fax documents to him because he considers it "more secure" than email. The problem is his fax machine intermittently misses faxes, and he will get a fax report that says "No fax detected" and then he will hear from a client that they faxed him something and either he didn't get it, or the client claims their fax said that there was no answer.
We've replaced the fax machine, and setup a phone on it to see if we can detect what the issue is but because faxing is such a simple process I told him I don't really know what else to do because there aren't a whole lot of settings that can be changed when it comes to faxing ... literally plug the machine in, plug the phone line in, setup rings, setup header and it's done.
I've been trying to get him to move to eFax for a couple years and he just says that he feels like it isn't secure enough. Well! Good news! eFax offers a "Corporate" faxing solution which delivers your faxes to a secure web based environment. He said it sounded like a huge hassle, and I just told him well it's less of a hassle than missing faxes constantly and once you get used to it I'm sure it will be just as easy, and when you get junk faxes you can just discard them instead of having them print automatically.
He said, "Ok well I'll just tell my clients to mail me their information, and I don't have a fax anymore". I said, "Please just consider this option, old school faxing is so primitive and you are literally my ONLY client that faxes anything these days."
Here's the kicker ... This client who is anal about security uses a different email account for all of his Tax assistants which isn't weird, what is weird is they are all AOL accounts and he won't let me setup professional email for him because he's so used to AOL... So secure! LOL.
