I could get free computer help at a number of other websites (computerhope.com, for example). I have found the people there to be friendly, informed, kind, and very helpful.

I came here because I need some help with a newly started tech support company. I would like to learn how the pros do things. I want to learn from people that know more than I do. I want to learn from experts. I am not looking for help with my computer or any customer's computer. I thought that was the purpose of this site/forum/sub-forum. I was mistaken.

What I found here is a massive gathering of douchebags. Not all of you, but many of you. You should call this place NickBurns.com.

awww, it's okay. Turn that frown up-side down!

Since joining the threads you have started and asked questions were very generic in nature which made you sound like you had no clue what you were doing. You were treated as such. We are used to new members being "techs" for 13 years and yet have no idea how to remove a virus.

Have you ever walked into a car shop and asked the repair man:
"Hey, when someone brings in a car complaining about a noise, what exactly do you do to figure out the problem and what do you do to fix it?"

What answer do you expect to get?

We are all for helping out, but you need to prove that you are actually doing something for yourself before you turn to us. If it is a theoretical question, you should make that clear first and (because you are a new user) explain what you would do or currently are doing and how you could improve your process.

You only have yourself to blame. Go back and read your first post on that thread and you will see you came across as a total newbie end user.

But calling us names really seals your fate. Good luck with future endeavours.

I'd also like to point out that your thread asking for percentages of types of repairs was answered very well. It was when you got into asking about what everyone does to remove the viruses where it became an issue, most likely due to your low post count. Also because it is covered all over the forum and can be found by searching.

Calling many of you what you are changes nothing. You were jerks then, and you are jerks now. The people that are helpful are still helpful. They know I am not talking about them, and me calling a spade a spade doesn't change anything.

If you are a technician looking to learn and contribute you are welcome here. Don't worry about a few people being sarcastic.

If you've got stuff to discuss you'll get good info here.

If you don't like it here just leave? Why tell us? It's like you are asking to get flamed or make enemies. Don't let the virtual door hit you in the virtual a$% on your way out.

You have to show a certain amount of respect being a rookie. Calling us D-bags is not the way. If you had 1000 posts and started this thread, I would say you should get a warning but putting this out on your first days of joining is reason for dismissal.

To say the least be glad that this community is available to the public. There is a wealth of knowledge in the business aspect if you just do your research. I spent the first few days going through all the posts in the business section (all the way to page 100 or so) before even registering. The help is here you just have to learn how to use it properly.

Some things don't come fast or even easy. It took me 10 years of learning before I could even say to myself, I'm a computer repair tech. Don't let things get you down, just grow and better yourself.

Hey Fred's got another call!

Wow, what an arrogant S.O.B. Looks like someone woke up with their panties in a bunch this morning.

Here's a little advice for ya:
1 - Reach back
2 - Get a firm grip
3 - Pull with a swift motion
The stick should now be removed from up your ass.

I would like to share a quick story about you guys here. I know that I should probably post this elsewhere, but I feel I need to share this to put this into perspective.

I shared an issue with the board a few days ago where I said stupid things to a customer. I made it sound funny and I thought it was. One of the first posts is a hard remark about getting my head in the game and pretty much pay the **** attention.

I don't remember who that poster is but I didn't call him a douche bag. Why? Because he was right! Duhh. (if that particular poster is reading this, Thanks)

My point is that the rookie doesn't talk back to the master. He shuts his mouth, swallows his pride and listens to what the master has to say. "Insolent" is a word that comes to mind when thinking of a way to describe AGATECH. I don't think booting or banning should be done. But he/she needs to realize that he/she is going to be told like it is. Regardless of whether he/she has the stomach for it.

Well said ForsitheComputers, Amen!

Re:

Agatech, have you lost your mind? Take a chill pill, dude!
We didn't do it to piss you off and you should not see it that way.
This forum's rules are clear about the intentions of this forums. It's for computer business professionals. You get mad with us because you can't find answers to your stupid questions? Take a break dude, you need it!

We are trying to keep this forum organized and not waste out time with time wasters. We were all where you are right now, and we all got frustrated, but didn't go around calling people names. You are at the beginning of the long road ahead of you, that is if this industry is for you!

I get it, you were asking for advice, but that's the wrong approach!
Read enough on this forum to learn how people ask and get answers!
You owe people a serious apology or just piss off!

Did the internet hurt your feelings? Look, we are all businessmen and women and if you can't take it from us I can't see you dealing very well with customers.

What you said is both extraordinarily rude and unprofessional. How can you expect to be treated with any respect? I don't really care about what problem you are having to be honest.

If you can see the value in this site and the wealth of information other Tech Professionals freely give, apologize and we can all move on. Or if you don't like it here just leave.

I would like to learn how the pros do things. I want to learn from people that know more than I do. I want to learn from experts.

Pros do not start off talking to other people that way. If you want to learn from true experts just read the past post there is a true education there.

I'll chime in for what it's worth.

Are there jerks here? Sure. Not many but there are a few.

Are there good people here? 100x more than jerks and 100x more than most message boards (across all topics) that I've been on.

Are there people who come across wrong in their comments because this is the internet and not face to face conversations? Yep. We are all guilty.

Now to the real issue. This forum is for professional business people seeking to meet and discuss business issues with other people in our own field. Yes some people are just thinking of opening a shop and some of been in business 20 years. However, there is a degree of professionalism that is expected of everyone on a forum when the main topic is operating a business. People can ask basic business operation related questions and that is perfectly acceptable.

There are subforums for tech to tech help and advice. However, the participants in those forums assume they are dealing with other knowledgeable and experienced techs because that is what the forum is designed for. It is is NOT designed for home users, people not in the business or people with very limited knowledge and trying to use those subforums as a starting learning ground.

No matter what the truth is, you came across as a person who has very very limited computer knowledge. You might appear to have more knowledge than the average Facebook user but far less than a person who would be opening a computer repair business. Again, this might not be true, but it is the perception that came across that way in the posts that you made. The point is, when the members of this board see someone asking questions in a way that leads them to believe the person isn't a knowledgeable tech, they start throwing flares up. The reason.....they do not want this forum over run with people posing as techs trying to get free advice. That is not the purpose of the forum or their reason for being on the forum.

This a great forum to gain knowledge and learn but it's not a place to get an education.

Again, this is not a slam against you. You might have been totally misinterpreted but I'm just telling you how you came across and why you were treated the way you were.

Coming here and telling people they are jerks and the forum isn't helping you and doesn't do any good.
