A Massive Gathering of Douchebags

Douchebag? Totally unprofessional and un-neccessary, ok?

I do recall in one of my posts I asked if you were fixing your computer or someone's else computer but I also started out as saying that I didn't mean any disrespect and I sincerely didn't. But now starting a thread off like this shows that you're quick to react - instead of reading and understanding the different responses to your previous threads. You're taking this all wrong.

If this forum isn't suiting your needs, then maybe you should move on. I wonder how Bryce, the owner of TN would feel when he sees this thread.

Vdub: Uh, that pic you posted was a rather uh....never mind....-:)

I could get free computer help at a number of other websites (computerhope.com, for example). I have found the people there to be friendly, informed, kind, and very helpful.

I came here because I need some help with a newly started tech support company. I would like to learn how the pros do things. I want to learn from people that know more than I do. I want to learn from experts. I am not looking for help with my computer or any customer's computer. I thought that was the purpose of this site/forum/sub-forum. I was mistaken.

What I found here is a massive gathering of douchebags. Not all of you, but many of you. You should call this place NickBurns.com.

Obviously I haven't been keeping up, but I had to log in just for this. For F#$% sake you joined on 06-04-2010. A week ago? PLEASE! Anyone willing to show me the ignore button for this douche.

EDIT: Never mind, I found the ignore button. Thanks Aggie, at least I learned something new today.

I am still rather new to these forums and I quite enjoy it here. It is not a forum where someone completely new is supposed to be. If you ask "How do I fix a computer?"; this is probably not the correct forum for you as this is a forum for technicians and has technicians on it.

I was reading your thread earlier today:
"You have a desktop that is freezing many times per day"
Yet it sounded like you had done nothing before asking for help and beyond that there were no specifications listed or anything listed for that matter. Many questions needed to be asked. Many people needed to question whether you are a technician or just someone looking for help.
It is only natural to get the responses that you did.

There are lots of other forums out there that will suit you better I would imagine. This one is suited to technicians.

I'll chime in for what it's worth.

Are there jerks here? Sure. Not many but there are a few.

Are there good people here? 100x more than jerks and 100x more than most message boards (across all topics) that I've been on.

Are there people who come across wrong in their comments because this is the internet and not face to face conversations? Yep. We are all guilty.

Now to the real issue. This forum is for professional business people seeking to meet and discuss business issues with other people in our own field. Yes some people are just thinking of opening a shop and some of been in business 20 years. However, there is a degree of professionalism that is expected of everyone on a forum when the main topic is operating a business. People can ask basic business operation related questions and that is perfectly acceptable.

There are subforums for tech to tech help and advice. However, the participants in those forums assume they are dealing with other knowledgeable and experienced techs because that is what the forum is designed for. It is is NOT designed for home users, people not in the business or people with very limited knowledge and trying to use those subforums as a starting learning ground.

No matter what the truth is, you came across as a person who has very very limited computer knowledge. You might appear to have more knowledge than the average Facebook user but far less than a person who would be opening a computer repair business. Again, this might not be true, but it is the perception that came across that way in the posts that you made. The point is, when the members of this board see someone asking questions in a way that leads them to believe the person isn't a knowledgeable tech, they start throwing flares up. The reason.....they do not want this forum over run with people posing as techs trying to get free advice. That is not the purpose of the forum or their reason for being on the forum.

This a great forum to gain knowledge and learn but it's not a place to get an education.

Again, this is not a slam against you. You might have been totally misinterpreted but I'm just telling you how you came across and why you were treated the way you were.

Coming here and telling people they are jerks and the forum isn't helping you and doesn't do any good.

As you said to me earlier in some other post: "Bingo." Sums up everything.

I gave up on this guy when he argued the case for running two anti-viruses on the same system.

He doesn't want to learn, he just wants to be given the answers.

Sorry AGATECH, you're not ready to go into business on your own yet, not least you need to adjust your attitude before you even consider it. Customers will be looking to you for answers, if you don't feel confident with that then you're no where near ready to go it alone. It's a whole different ball-game resolving issues with paying customer's computers than it is 'fixing' family computers.

................My point is that the rookie doesn't talk back to the master. He shuts his mouth, swallows his pride and listens to what the master has to say. "Insolent" is a word that comes to mind when thinking of a way to describe AGATECH. I don't think booting or banning should be done. But he/she needs to realize that he/she is going to be told like it is. Regardless of whether he/she has the stomach for it.

Well said. As another Newbie I totally agree.

So Agatech, considering the nature and tone of all the responses above, do you honestly still consider that almost everybody else is out of line, and that you alone are correct and right? If so then I'm afraid there's little hope for you.

Seems a rather pointless thread started by a pointless member who doesn't seem to have anything useful to contribute. Change your attitude if you want to receive help from people on here in your future threads. If you don't, then feel free to move onto another forum.
