That's what I was thinking too. I haven't seen it in years, but I recall the aborting the shutdown and being able to repair it somehow. It's been a while but I think the repair is doable in windows.This reminds me of the blaster and nimda worms that hit in about 2003. They worked on a buffer overflow vulnerability in windows xp that was subsequently patched by Microsoft.
