Autoruns – Monitor Everything That Runs in the Computer

This one is for experienced users only; This free tool allows you to view nearly everything on your system that is set to automatically run and goes far beyond the capabilities of MSConfig. This tool can show you files that are in your startup folder, files being launched from the registry, files that are launched by TaskScheduler, files that Windows starts by default such as DLL’s, Microsoft and 3rd party services and much more.

About 3 months ago in a malware case study, I used this tool to detect malware that Process Explorer and Hijack This! totally missed.

A word of warning though, this is a powerful tool and users who dont have an intimate knowlege of how Windows works should not use this tool.
