Zalman ZM-VE300

So I changed the firmware from 1.98 to 1.1 and all is now good. Thanks
Well i'm glad to help you. Well since you have same model what is your expirience with virtual drive in laptop and desktop bios, some models don't
recognizes zalman virtual drive, like some Toshiba models, and do your drive in zalman must be primary and activ to see ISO files in _iso folder.

Cheers

In searching for both units I find the Zalman ZM-VE350 (silver or black) for $47 and the Lodd2531 for $60@ Amazon. Might just pickup the newest Zalman as we have the 200 now

I love my Zalman. It's one of my most treasured tech tools. I put a 750 GB hard drive in it and use it for installing operating systems, portable apps and temporary customer backups.

I've been using one of the USB 2.0 models for a few years for my own personal use and we got a few of the USB 3.0 models for the shop. They are very handy, but since there's only a few I usually just end up using a flash drive anyway. If people are looking for an alternative to the Zalmans I'll recommend http://www.easy2boot.com/ as functional equivalent for most things.

These days I just have a 32GB image with an OSX 10.10 volume, a few of the common Windows ISOs and some Linux, WinPE and other utilities. It's not quite as drag-and-drop as the Zalman and can take a while to get configured properly but it's also cheaper to make a bunch of copies for other techs and tends to get the jobs done around as well.
