HI,
I recently bought a Zalman VE-200 and I am unable to use it to boot a Dell Vostro 1014, I don't have anything else to test it on right now as everything else is boxed up 3000 miles away......
This isn't very urgent as I have everything on CD's & USB anyway, I would just like to get it working :)

I have copied a ubuntu rescue disk to _iso
I select the iso, and make sure the disk icon shows on the Zalman display.

In HDD mode the BIOS recognises it up as "USB Storage"
In Dual mode the BIOS recognises it up as "USB Storage"
In ODD mode it is not recognised by the BIOS

I can boot from USB memory sticks, so booting from USB is not an issue
I have also tried PLOP to boot from USB without BIOS but again the Zalman is not recognised.

When I connect the Zalman in windows it recognises it in all modes, as either a USB storage or CD/DVD player

BIOS is up to date
ISO is OK as it works when burnt to CD and booting from CD

Anyone have any ideas?

Yup, one of the posts was mine. nothing really helped so I thought I would start a new thread with more details rather than turn a discussion thread into a thread about this particular issue and see if anyone can help, as it is quite annoying....

Ok sorry, i've been following that thread and thought it might help since several similar symptoms had been mentioned.

Your luckier than me i just got my 200 and it was doa (bad jog switch) so its under rma atm.

Hopefully someone can help with your particular problem.

Hi, I have the zalman vm - ve300. I have mine set to dual mode. I am not sure about every bios but when you have it in dual mode you should see both zalman usb storage and zalman cd/dvd virtual drive in the bios boot listings. You need to select the later as the boot device. If the bios is not seeing cd/dvd virtual drive then there may be a problem with the device or the bios is not compatible with the zalman.

Hi,
When in dual mode my BIOS only sees the USB storage, not the CD/DVD

I can however boot from an external USB samsung DVD player

My VE-200 does not work with some Dell laptops either. I never looked into it to be honest, I have just got use to not using it on Dell laptops

I'm having trouble with my VE300 going to sleep between the time I select a boot option and the actual boot. Which means my pc boots from Windows 7. I have tried a lot of different thing's and cant seem to get it to boot even though it recognizes the iso. I'm running it on a Lenovo Think Pad edge.
Anyone have a similar problem?

Tim, I'm not a moderator but I'd suggest you start your own thread. You're more likely to get an answer. You shouldn't hijack someone else's thread, it's considered bad manners on forums. Posting the same thing multiple times is also considered bad manners.

Good luck with your problem.
