The tech
The manager
The innovator
We all have a bit of each and some will be stronger in our personality than others.
The Tech wants to go to work and do what he or she loves to do technical work. The less interruption from the work to be done the better.
The manager wants to create and maintain order. Because of this the manager generally clashes with the tech who just wants to do the job and be left alone. The tech is not interested in work documentation and purchase orders he is interested in technical work.
The innovator wants to change things or try things and measure their results. Because of this both the manager and the tech hate the innovator.
Coming to grips with this can help tremendously in your hiring process by seeking out employees with strength in the areas that you are not passionate about. Michel Gerber wrote a best selling book on this called the E myth a definite must read for a business owner or a job owner looking to create a business.
