I don't know what my max is because I never max out, but I can get 290 for 6 reps. The most I have done is 360. I also do Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, in fact I'm one of the grappling coches at my MMA school.

Wow, that's a lot of weight. That's awesome you coach Jiu-Jitsu. I'm a member of a branch gym of Balance Studios where Phil Migliarese is the head guy.

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the Gi either. I love Eddie Bravo and especially his patented rubber guard. I got his book a few months ago, its great.

Am I the only one who thinks its a bit odd that we have 5 geeks here and 4 of us are into martial arts?

Not at all... got my black belt in Judo and Godju Ryu 1988 / 1989 and did 2 years of Greco wrestling from 1979 to 1981

Also play guitar, not so often now, but I love it... solo, harmony and bass on electric and harmony on "cold" (clasical guitar).

Ah Judo. I have went against some of the better Judo guys around here. I always try to double leg them these days after getting way too much air time from a former training partener of mine who was a blackbelt in Judo. I also never ware a Gi against those guys...lol

Yes, I have learned my lesson as well with some Judo guys. You said it perfect Gunslinger when you referred to it as to much "air time"...

@K007, That's quite an accomplishment getting a black belt, I think I'm like 12 years away at the rate I attend practice and competitions. Not enough time in the day anymore :(

Looking back, yes, I suppose it is an accomplishment.
Took me the best part of 6 years with 12 hours per week.

Judo is really beautiful. Is all based on how fast and how well can you transfer your conscious knowledge into the subconscious. Without reflex there is almost sure defeat.
Once it becomes reflex, you will never forget it.

Godju Ryu, like most of other "Karate" schools, is bang-on display of force. Not as beautiful as Judo but useful nevertheless.

By the way (for those of you who don't know yet) , what you see in cinema as "Karate" is nothing more then coreograpy, or maybe just a bit more than coreography to be generous.

P.S.
Thanks for heroically supporting my "Air Time" lol
P.P.S
"Air Time" like in broadcasting... you get it.

Used to do freestyle Tai Kwon Do (TKD / thai boxing / grappling) until my daughter was born, loved it and should've carried on to get my black belt, I stopped with 2 gradings to go.

2 gradings to go! I would go back if I were you. How long will it take to get a black belt?

Ah, martial arts, what a fantastic stress reliever. I took Muay Thai for 8 years... (quit 2 years ago), I think I need to go back... gettin' outta shape.

I fought a guy with a background in Jujitsu when I first started competing - got my ass handed to me. If Judo is beautiful, then Mauy Thai is the opposite. Got to be the most offensive martial art I have ever taken. But they train like boxers and I needed the endurance for my other hobby (mentioned earlier).
