Your Business Address

Exactly. As for being professional they can visit your website for that. On mine you can read about me, my testimonials, see me and see my vehicle complete with advertising.

Whatever happened to your signature? Would like to check your site. I will probably include address on the footer of my website and the Contact page.

We're onsite only and have always had our address on our cards. I just think it's more professional looking.

Since the business started in 2003, have had only 3 people simply drop by, and they were neighbors down the street in our subdivision that saw the wrap on my parked car!

I was thinking of getting a decal on my car as well to drum up some business in my neighberhood. I really haven't had a chance to meet many of my neighbords. I live in a townhouse community and it just seems that everyone pretty much keeps to themselves. I know I got alot of foot traffic near my car through the day so maybe having a decal will help.

No address on my biz card. Just a local land line phone number and an email address.

Many clients have commented that the local number is why they called me in the first place.

I have my cell phone and then I have a google voice number. Area code for me is 561, but on my google voice is 772 I wasnt able to get the 561. The 772 is for the next county over. You think that poses a problem? Trying to keep the lines seperate.

The only thing I know for sure is what works for me might not work for you. Once you catch a new client your number is immaterial but for that initial call who knows.

I have my biz phone call-forwarded to my cell so I always can answer the call when I'm on the road.

My new clients tell me (I always ask how they found me) that they like the fact that they recognize my phone number as a local one. They know I'm a neighbor and a local resident. We shop at the same grocery store. Know the same people. Get speeding tickets from the same cops. Pay the same astronomical property taxes.

Many have commented that they were put off by an 800 # or an exchange they didn't recognize. Now these are residential and small, non-server businesses and I'm sure there is a different set of criteria that drives a larger biz.

Your mileage will vary. You should ask your clients if that 772 exchange is an issue.

Yeah I been thinking about it alot. I think picking someone like Ringcentral.com and have the calls forwarded to my cell phone will be better. Google voice still doesnt have the 561 area code and I don't see it happening for awhile at least. I wasn't too keen with going with a area code that isnt local.

Cypress, allow me to weigh in. I think it's is a big deal. Check out RingCentral to see if they have 561.

Yeah, I just contacted them and they have a couple in my area. Rep is offering me 500 mins instead of their standard 300 mins. for $9.99 a month. Their interface looks really good.

Nice! Looking at their pricing page I see "starting at 24.99 per user", maybe I should contact them.

It's funny you say that. I got that same page when going directly to them but when visiting google I got another page. Here is the trick. Take out the office from that link.

This the one that they host and is pretty much suited for having it forwarded to your cell phone or other devices.

This Pro is $9.99 for 12 months if you pay it annually or $19.99 if you go month to month. I suggest you contact them through Sales Chat and tell them you want to try it out. They'll probably reup the Pro from 300 mins to 500 mins. I took down their info, and once I am ready I am going to try it out before fully committing to them. I have heard good reviews about them before.

Let me know how it works out for you.

Did you notice he is in Canada?

I just want to post an update. Saturday I decided to try Google voice again and I was happy to know they added local numbers. I was able to secure a number in my area that local and easy to remember. I snatched it right up. Only cost me $10 since I changed from a previous Google voice number.

I set it up and it is working perfectly now. Saved me $110 easily.

How is the call quality? I use a VOIP solution I am not fond of. I get crappy call quality sometimes which irks me.

I may try out RingCentral instead.

Was also considering using Ooma and their cellphone app

edit/ thanks for the earlier link - 9.99 a month, if it is decent quality, is a very fair price.

So far from using, it has been very good. Ringcentral looks very good as well. Me just being a one man shop the Google Voice suits me well.

Let me know how Ringcentral works for you though.

I have my address on my cards, website etc. I used to do a lot of pickup/drop-off since my shop is in my home, but i have learned that people seem to be a lot more confortable dropping off their machines to me. This has worked well and I have never had anyone just stop in without calling first. This also prevents me from having stop what I am doing to run all over the place. People call, setup a drop-off time and when they show up I take their info/machine and give them a card before they leave. This works very well for me.

When I was doing mostly pick-up/drop-off I could tell that some people were slightly hesitant to hand over their computers (even though they called me!) but they seem to feel more secure knowing that they are leaving their equipment at a physical location rather than some guy in a truck. I can understand that.

I'm located in the US and have a Regus office. I have the address on my business cards and when a client would rather come to me, I meet them there. I can also rent office/meeting space with them. Works for the most part. Some people are still put off by not having a storefront.

Thank you this was real helpful information for me. I've had a couple clients do it in the past but I stopped doing it. Seems like I will start it back up.

I have had my physical address listed on my business cards since I started 10 yrs ago. First it was my home address and home phone number. What a mistake, getting phone calls at all hours of the day, any day of the week, and holidays. So I got a business phone number and still kept the home address and ran a new batch of business cards. Then I got a mailbox at the UPS Store and changed the address to that on all of my new business cards. I get a lot of clients asking "hey where is xyz road?" and then having to explain it is a mailbox. I need to buy more business cards and I think now I will just put the city and state, no physical address. Online I list on my own website Corporate Mailing Address and on Google I've removed the physical address and just use city and state. Although it is easy to find my business mailing address or home address through Google.

Decide now before you start your business. Because changing it after you're established is difficult. People hold onto business cards *forever* even if you give them new ones, they don't throw out the old ones.

Same deal

IMO business cards with no address present a less legitimate feel than those that include addresses.

We worked out of a house for the first year. We opened a store over a year ago but had many business cards with no address on them because we used the appointment only approach. I recently had a customer grab a handful of my cards on his way out of the store and ask with a confused look "no address?". He came back a day or so later and said he gave my cards to a few people at church and they all asked the same thing no address?? Agree with mraikes I wouldn't worry about it working from a residence, it is more legitimate to include the address working from a storefront.
