Hi everyone.

My first post asking someone for advice on a forum so please take it easy(new tech.) I can't figure out how to make Yahoo mail work with outlook. I know that you have to have Yahoo plus or Yahoo Biz. Is there a way to make Yahoo free work?
Thanks in advance.

If you already KNOW that you must have plus or biz, then why do you NOT know that you must have plus or biz...? I'm confused.......

As for the other link, outdated probably. I recall several inferior mail services like Yahoo and Hotmail that used to have free POP access but later revoked it. Seems like at least with Hotmail you could get grandfathered in. Not really sure. Not really sure why anyone would use Hotmail or Yahoo either...

I think the reason he is asking is because he has a yahoo free account and things do happen to change. Unfortunately, Things havent changed for a free yahoo account.

I say just forward your mail from your yahoo account to gmail and grab it there! :)

Thanks for all the replies. This is for a client that has a yahoo free account. I use Gmail and have it configured for outlook. I just wanted to be sure that I didn't miss any possible solutions. Just trying to build experience and learn from this forum.

The free US Yahoo accounts have been offering IMAP access for about a year now. While this article is for Thunderbird, the same settings apply to Outlook.

Hmm... I wonder why they offer IMAP and not POP...

Certainly sounds like a better solution than this YPops that was mentioned. You wouldn't want to set up a customer with something that breaks every so often and needs a new version.

They did it after Hotmail started offering POP. Don't know if that was a part of their reasoning or not, but it was an interesting coincidence.

I used to use the Webmail extension in Thunderbird to get my junk Yahoo acct as POP, and yes, it did break on a regular basis when Yahoo would change their site. The IMAP works well.
