Just a heads up for those that have been using slipstreamed versions of sp2 for a while and have not actually installed a SP! Remember that if the computer is using any kind of boot image changer like stardock or tune up utilities, or the logon screen image changer, they must be uninstalled or have the original screens reset to the original screens before you can install SP3! And you didnt hear it from me, but you can grab the SP3 RTM on torrents! Final name is: WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU

Hmmm....I manually edited my logon screen through resource hacker... I guess I should check into seeing if SP3 will install. Hopefully I have a backup of the logonui.exe somewhere....

I am in the process of making some custom install disks to save me time. My only concern with slip streaming sp3 is the unknown.

When sp2 came out I got flooded with business (good). When sp6 for NT came out it turned out to be severely flawed thus sp6a.

I tend to wait a month before adding a new sp.

Just my 2cents

I have had no problem with the slipstream at all! I have used both the RTM and the official unofficial release from last Tuesday that i downloaded before they took it off line. For the sp3 slipstream I used nLite, and added ie7 as a hotfix to integrate it. I also used WMP11 Slipstreamer to include windows media player 11 (and all of its updates).

I forgot to follow up on this:
I installed SP3 with a manually modified login screen and it worked fine. It DID reset it back to the Windows defaults, so my changes were lost...no big deal, though.
