I'm hoping to pick up the odd extra job that other repair guys won't get purely because they close down xmas eve to boxing day. So, I've been playing around with a few designs for an advert which will go in my local "in business" magazine. Could you take a look and give me your thoughts please? I was thinking of adding some presents (PS3 / laptop / Ipod) with bows on them, but think it might be too much.

Wow, now that's dedication working those hours. I think the ad looks good. I'm not sure if adding any prices on there will benefit you are not, just a thought. Did you offer this service last year or is this the first year?

This is my first year in business (6 month anniversary yesterday to be precise!).

I just told my wife, man, if looks could kill! She calmed down a bit when I told her I'll be charging time and a half.

Looks good. I think it is clean and to the point. I did a very quick look at it and it stuck with me. Much like a potential customer would do.

I am also currious if you have done this type of thing in the past and if so what the result were.

What is "Boxing Day" we don't have that here is the states. At least I don't think so.

Thanks

Congrats on your business anniversary!

I can imagine your wife's face. I know I would be in the dog house if I broke out that news.

The ad looks great. I love the santa hat on the mouse. The only thing is I would consider using "Christmas" instead of "Xmas". Simply because to SOME people "Xmas" is offensive, and you don't want to drive them away. I don't think "Christmas" is offensive to anyone, though.

Depends on the nationality I think, for those that do not believe in Christmas you will win favor in their eyes as well.

Boxing Day is like black friday in the states with all the sales and deals, just that it is the day after Christmas and a nationally recognized stat holiday.

Thank you!

I did toy with idea of new years eve and new years day, but her birthday is the 1st, so that idea is definitely out of the window!!!

Hadn't thought of that, you could be right. I shall change it.

I give it an 8 out of 10. I would give it a 9 out of 10 if you would make "Need a hand setting up the kids new toys" a little bolder. Also- maybe consider instead of "the kids new toys" you can put "your kids new toys". It makes it sound more personal.

I love the Christmas tree by the way- would of never think of going that route, I would of just find a picture of a real tree and some presents then put it in there somehow.

I like it, it looks great, i love the xmas tree and mouse. I have to say I really do admire your commitment, my wife and family would chastise me if I thought of doing that. Let's hope you don't end up with a job that over runs..lol

She's pretty good to be honest and realises that we could do with the extra money, it is only a few hours after all and our kids will be too busy playing with their new stuff to even realise I'm at work!!!

Thanks for all the comments so far guys, it is really appreciated. I'll put up an updated version later.

Same here, xmas eve and boxing day i would be ok )especially as we are open those days as normal) but unless was only 9am-1pm on xmas day i would be sleeping in the office for weeks never mind even getting asfar as the spare room.

Looks great, except It would be more proper english to say "game console" the way everything else is worded, not "games console"

Just mt 2cents worth. Otherwise it looks great, and good luck on that.

Instead of Xmas or Christmas, what about using the dates. December 25th. That way you want offend anyone, just an idea.

Just a thought are you sending your existing customers this as a Xmas card? I would be.

It went out in my monthly newsletter today, but yes it will also be in their chrimbo cards.

Thanks, I'll put that to my wife, she talks proper English innit!!!

TBH I don't buy into the whole PC (no pun intended) stuff, it's Christmas, like it or lump it!
