Man Uses $1m Win To Finally Visit Doctor, Gets Terminal Cancer Diagnosis, Dies Weeks Later
https://www.yahoo.com/news/man-uses-1m-win-finally-133740822.html

“Being a self-employed carpenter, I didn’t really have a plan for retirement,” Savastano told WBNG at the time. “The money will help with that. I don’t have any other extravagant plans. I’ll buy a new truck, pay off some debt and invest for the future.”

As well as thinking about using his newly found fortune to book a vacation and buy himself a new truck, the self-employed carpenter also took the opportunity to pay for a visit to the doctor—something he had previously not been able to afford.

But during his appointment the doctor told Savastano, who had reportedly been feeling unwell for some time, that he had stage 4 cancer in his lung and brain. The 51-year-old died just three weeks after winning the jackpot and getting his diagnosis.

Hopefully he lived the f**k out of his last three weeks then. If you're going to get a 3 weeks left to live diagnosis, it might as well be right after you won a million dollar jackpot and got the cash to live it up.

But I suspect he was just in the hospital the whole time :(

Am i the only one wondering how he managed to get a dr appointment and get tested in 3 weeks? xD He must have gone to a doctors care and they diagnosed him with an xray then did a rush ct scan for verification at a local imaging place or hospital.

If I found out I had only three weeks to live I would go on a murderous spree of people that were cruel to animals!
...It would be just my luck that at the end of the three weeks they would either find a cure or give me a miss diagnosis!!

If I found I only had three weeks to live I’d go live with my Mother in Law. That way it would seem a lot longer.

I think I'd do something similar, except I'd be after execs of Insulin manufacturers. And I don't care if the fixed me afterward, I'd still be a hero.

I thought I would limit it to cruelty to Animals, because if I went "all out" I would also target child molesters, drug pushers (and Lords),
execs of pharmaceutical companies that profit from peoples pain or death, the people who charge exorbitant fees for carparking at hospitals, (as if people don't have enough to worry about!) and many many more!
Maybe in "The After Life" we could team up and cover more?!?!

I actually worry a bit about when the mental switch is going to flip in some of the folks that I'd dismiss as "RWNJs" when they get sick with something that might be treatable if only they had any kind of healthcare available.

I'm sure some of them will continue to blame Democrats (like Hannity blaming Obama for the market drops in the past few days), but that's not going to last forever.

Obama's administration and policies are responsible for that drop though. Because that's how markets work, they aren't reactive to today's policy they are built on yesterday's policy. And honestly, at this point I'm just tired of all of it to begin with. There is nothing to blame anyone for here. Oh noes, the stock slot machine wiped out all the value it made in the last 60 days, whatever will we do!?!

It's a correction, the recovery seems to already be happening. Life continues. Trump can neither take credit for it, nor control it. His fiscal policy over his term will have an impact over the markets after he's left office, and will have more of an impact the longer he serves... but right now? His total influence over Obama's 8 years is minimal.

Regardless, the President has so little control over these things casting "blame" and trying to assign "fault" is utterly bonkers. The drop isn't "wrong", it's not a "crash", at least not yet.
