If you are running wordpress? or any other website? When did you last take a backup for the files and connected databases?

Earlier tonight our website crashed and I have just spend the last few hours fixing the fault. after many minutes of panic I got it working again. Then realised I don't have a backup of the site or databases!! (I know I should) So now I have set it to backup to AWS, Dropbox and email the MySQL databases.

If you don't have a backup I would do one now, I have learnt my lesson.

Mine runs a backup every day of the database and I have a backup of the site files every time I make a change. There is plugin that schedules it.

I backup manually after every major change/ edit to the site

Your Host should be also taking automated backups available for restore in the event of a catastrophic failure. We use Hostgator and they have done this for us in the past - put the whole site back online for the princely sum of $12.

I second Backup Buddy! I works perfectly everytime. I have tried dozens of Wordpress backup plugins and there's only one that works 100% of the time and that's Backup Buddy. The newest version has an automatic backup. If you manage Wordpress site you need this plugin. I have used it many times to migrate to another server. That's the true test.

I have just added a add on to my hosting to take a backup every 6 hours. and I'm trying to configure backup buddy to backup everything to dropbox and aws.

I really hope this is going to be as robust as I can make it, I don't what to have an experiance like last night again.

Just login to CPanel and create a full backup. Then download to external location if desired.

I also have a wp plugin that creates a database backup regularly. All free of course :)

If I had to do it manually I would never get around to it. All setup to run automatically to dropbox and AWS. daily.
