Who all here uses WordPress for their business website?

If so, is there any functionality out there that you wish was more integrated with your site?

What plugins have you searched for, computer repair or otherwise, that you wish were out there?

Just doing some market research on this...I hope I'm posting in the right section.:)

My sites in wp, I haven't really sought out any plugins for it because the only thing I would like to integrate has about as absolutely no chance of ever being done, by the developers anyway. I would like to integrate the ever loathed TS Man into the site somehow. In theory i guess its possible as its all firebird dbs, but I don't have the skills or the time to do it.

Another reason why I haven't really had to do a lot of work making it work for me is that I bought a computer repair template. Some of the best money I ever spent!

I am very interested in this topic though and will keep this open for f5-ing for the next few days!

i m using wp and it is great
if u want to really learn how to use it to it fulest go and watch some video at lynda.com
or go to youtube they have a lot of content.
i prefer lynda

i hope it helps.

I am using Wordpress for my website and have been looking at a way to allow my clients to pay their invoices online through my site or even to just view their invoices. I have not investigated fully as I am sure there is a solution however I have not found exactly what I am looking for yet.

I would like a widget that carries across average repair time from PCRT and displays it on the site.

Yes, Im aware that its a simple thing to set up. But Im lazy :)

Seriously, I think a lot of people who use PCRT and have a fast turnaround time would be interested in using that to promote their service, if it was quick to implement (like a WP plugin)

This thread sent me off on a google mission, I was doing some backend stuff to my site anyway, so I thought, let's have a dig. Googling a variety of wordpress computer repair variations, the best two things I can bring to the discussion are these.

1) A widget that displays a global virus threat level, with image and top/new spyware infections and how to clean them. It's called 'Global Threat Activity Widget' and I think it's kind of cool. I have decided to put it on most of my pages, but I am wanting to get the wording right because I think the display title is a bit scaremonger-y at the moment. I was thinking maybe, Global Virus Alert Level or something, but it still all sounds a bit terror threat level stuff, anyway ....

2)I found this over at podnutz, which looks pretty cool :)

It got me thinking, and its probably what the chap on podnutz is thinking, wordpress could easily behave like a crm. Why not design a whole program round a wp theme which would then be your crm/pos/online tracking/management/website. Its massive, but it could work I believe.

All your e-marketing could go through it and so on. Theres quite a lot of potential there for one very nice finished sellable product. Website, client management and all the rest integrated, its like a lovely dream start kit.

I think the all in one idea is a real winner. I would have bitten someones hand off if they had offered me a crm that was integrated into my website.

We can do this surely? Would anyone like to have a chat somewhere about it? I really do think it could be a great product that could easily transfer over into other repair business areas.

Ps. Just having a look at your startingpcrepair.com site Austin. Bookmarked. Well, tab moved over to my marketing and research tab group for tomorrow mornings brew, ciggies and reading session. :)

Just started with exporting workorders to pdf so you can print/e-mail etc...

Very basic at the moment.

I will be looking for someone very soon who has a good volume of repairs and the time and patients to work with me to develop this further. I would like them to be UK based but its not essential.

Just finished my asset label printing. Produces a PDF which is then sent to my QL-700 label printer.

This is all generated from HTML. So its very easy to edit and make your own!

Just done a couple of updates. Customer page now acts like the main dashboard in wordpress. Which means you can move all of the meta boxes.

Wordpress all the way - I have built a few sites for some clients in the past (I don't do that kind of work anymore - just too much babysitting), and it's the easiest CMS I have dealt with so far.

As far as plugins - there is currently a massive coordinated attack on wordpress websites, so make sure that your username is not "Admin" and that your password is something other than "P@$$word".

In fact, one of the first things you should do is to install some sort of login protection (login lockdown is a good plugin for that)

Another update...

You can now edit/add/delete workorder status, workorder priorities, contact status and referrals!

You can now filter workorders by status and priority

Customers can be filtered by referral

I'm very interested in this! We are UK based and do around 20-40 repairs per week as well as new builds etc. At the moment we're struggling for a tracking system that we all like but this looks great...

I'm looking for someone who can use the system and develop it further with me. There are still a few things that need sorting before I hand it over to someone.
