Target and Home Depot ,Jimmy John’s, Dairy Queen, P.F. Chang’s, UPS, Albertsons, Jewel-Osco, ACME, Shaw’s, Sally Beauty Supply, Goodwill, some Marriott hotels, Neiman Marcus, and Michael’s craft stores,K-mart,JPMorgan Chase,Berkeley Varitronic Systems, snapchat,Alcoa Inc.,Allegheny Technologies Inc., U.S. Steel Corp. ,Spotify and 40 more that were not in newspapers from small businesses.

I know, everyother day another news report about some major brand getting hacked. Makes prepaid CC's sound like a good option!

Has anyone actually been hit with activity they can trace to the new hacks? I had stuff show up on my wife's debt card after the Target breach but so far none of the others has hurt me yet.

Anyone else?

Before all the big things started, we'd gone to a fast food restaurant(been a couple of years), and someone apparently had a credit card skimmer and skimmed our debit card. We get our food and all, went on our way. No indication of anything going wrong. A few days later though, my wife is checking the bank accounts and sees that we've got charges coming out, and asks me what they are. I look at them and they appeared to be from California somewhere(we've never been to California), reported the card as stolen, but the agent verified there were more transactions pending for a few hundred dollars. I researched, and I suspect what happened was someone skimmed the card, sold the info online perhaps, and someone with a machine to program the strips(apparently they could be found on ebay for 500 or so at the time) had created a fake copy of our card, and was using it as a credit card and just running up the bill until there was no more money. Who knows how many cards/numbers they had. But you have to be careful. At least they can't hack cash lol.

Dairy Queen!? NOOO!!! lol

I got a new card from Chase after Target got hit as a precaution. When it comes to groceries and food I been buying with cash. But that has just been personal preference.

I got hit in the target breach and they sent me a new CC. Ever since I have been cash except for a few times I didn't have enough cash on hand. It's not as convenient but makes me sleep better at night and not having to worry about the next latest breach.

Maybe if this apple pay thing works out like it should I might eventually use that but for now its cash only.

For a long time, certain individuals wanted the masses to have every movement tracked. These individuals knew they had to make the masses beg for it. We have smart phones now.

Certain individuals for a long time wanted the masses to have RFID chips. How convenient these breaches. I guess a chip in your card is a start.

@Dave ^^

Here - borrow my foil hat.

You already had tracing when magstripe was on card. That Chip in chip & pin is for security - chip keeps track of PIN fail attempts. And it shifts the blame for fraud @ POS from retailer to customer - "THEY" say any fraud is now customer fault cos cardholder must have told someone the PIN - or in wallet or phone, postit etc

So there :p

- Actualy can I have it back? - Just discovered most uk fillling stations hold ANPR data - indefiniteley - "to prevent fraud" or just in case "THEY" ask for it :(

Yeah, and you know what's going to happen. When the chips in cards come out, in a few years, people will figure out how to hack those, so then no doubt people will say lets put chips in people's hands. No thanks for me.

I have no issues using my credit cards for purchases. I get awesome cash rewards and if they are hacked. It doesn't really affect me. All I have to do is challenge the charge, company investigates, during the dispute I don't have to pay the charges, I win, they send me a new card. Credit cards have a 0% fraud liability to them. Debit on the other hand. NO WAY. I don't use my debit card anywhere. My account could be drained, and yes I would get the money back, but it could take weeks and in the meantime I have had my bank account wiped out. Just the other day they found a card skimmer in the ATM machine at my credit union. Said it had been there for over three weeks. That same week they found 2 other skimmers on ATM's in my town. If I need cash I walk into the bank. Period

All cards in Canada have chips had them for 3 years already rest of the world seems behind so far no known hacks for it.
My Card terminal has had chip for 3 years it is very very rare to see a card now without a chip.
Looks like Sourcebooks have been hacked:

Sourcebooks recently learned that there was a breach of the shopping cart software that supports several of our websites on April 16, 2014–June 19, 2014
and unauthorized parties were able to gain access to customer credit card information.
The credit card information included card number, expiration date, cardholder name and card verification value (CVV2).
The billing account information included first name, last name, email address, phone number, and address. In some cases,
shipping information was included as first name, last name, phone number, and address. In some cases, account password was obtained too.
To our knowledge, the data accessed did not include any Track Data, PIN Number, Printed Card
Verification Data (CVD).
We are currently in the process of having a third party forensic audit done to determine the extent of this breach.

Guess i was wrong chip is not a secure as banks thought: ‘Replay’ Attacks Spoof Chip Card Charges
