Windows XP Users

[David Ranieri]

I setup xp pro on my workstation setting up the admin password during install.
I added a user on first run D. Ranieri.
Decided to change it to Just David and did so in control panel under users and groups.
I deleted the other D. Ranieri but still shows up in windows explorer and backups and such.
How can I nuke this D. Ranieri account but keep all of my files under the new name?

When you say it shows up in explorer and backups, are you refering to the file folder under Documents and Settings?

Yes sir I am and also in the profile listing under computer management.

Changing the name like that only changes your login name, not the profile and associated folder names/paths.

AFAIK you the only way of really changing all that is to create a new user with the desired name and then copy the profile to the new user profile. You have to login to the new user first to create the profile, logout, login as admin and then copy over the profile using the User Profiles function.
