Anyone actually get this now that its officially released??
If so, have you found any problems with it as yet?

I'm gonna swap from xp to Vista in a few months, hopefully once bugs and drivers and stuff come out for it.
 
Im going to hold tight like you until a few patches are released. Let the early adopters have the problems... although, it might be worth my while as a techie to use it and learn how to fix it, so I can fix the early adopters problems. Hmmm...

Im not 100% sure if my computer will run it well anyway and a new computer is very low on my priority list.
 
Thats another thing, I also may need to upgrade some parts of my PC to run it, although the beta ran ok.
 
Vista - All good for me so far!

I've got to admit that I'm really impressed with Vista so far.
I was running a pre release version of Ultimate for about 2 months and Microsoft kindly sent me the business version in late January. Been using it on my work laptop and not had a problem yet, it installs perfectly, all drivers included - really can't find a fault with it.

I'm still trying to find my way around it as it is a bit different but it's all there.

I have 2g of memory installed and it sure makes use of it but memory is so cheap now.....

I didn't just dive in carelesly,, I waited a year until I installed XP on the work computers as it was such a mess but Vista is a hundred times better than XP was in its early days - well worth trying!
 
I got to check it out I think its alright just gotta see where it goes and give them time for atleast SP1 before Id buy it. Id like to know what kind of differences there are between Business and Ultimate.

The only real difference is all the media related mumbo with DVD maker and movie maker, of course if you want bit locker drive encryption then you'll have to go with Ultimate.
Drive encryption is a must I guess if you have sensitive data on your computer, especially a laptop - just in case it goes on the missing list!

I think you'll wait a long time before SP1, it came out quickly for XP as it was such a mess at first but Vista really seems so much more stable!
 
I don't know, Ive heard Vista and Me mentioned twice in the past week in the same sentence. Ive taken a wait and see approach. I'll try to hold off for at least 6 months to a year before I make any choices.

The IT department that I will be working in will not, under any conditions think about a new OS rollout and especially Vista. And thats the better part of 150 machines , not counting Apples or servers.

Well I am in much a similar situation in all regards except we have 3 Servers and over 300 PCs and so far enough problems with Vista for the uses we have to know we can't use it yet.
 
Vista hasnt seemed to have woo'd the public as Microsoft expected. Some of my clients ask me if I have it or tried it yet. They don't seem to rushed to go out and get it. I guess Vista will slowly migrate into common use as new computers are shipped with it.

You mean no massive global enlightenment in where people decide to expect more and to try out alternatives? D:

Most that I know, got it through ''upgrade'' deals when they bought their new computer. ._.
 
Well I don't know about "global enlightenment" or anything like that...But what with the egg that M$ laid with the Me OS, and the more recent memory of the driver issues when XP was released, I'd like to think that they general public is getting a bt more tech savvy...especially in regards t the BS that accompanies every M$ release.

But then again I try to be an optimist...even if I know I'm going to be wrong. :rolleyes:
 
I just bought a new laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium and will probably upgrade it to Ultimate as soon as funds are available. I figure I need a new Laptop anyway and I need to learn Vista so I found a good deal and went for it.

Edit: I dont have the laptop yet I am waiting for it to be shipped to me I should get it on the 20th of this month.
 
I'm not sure Vista is worth getting just for Halo 2. The first one on the PC got old quickly. Also lacked a lot of stuff most PC FPS's useally have these days.
 
Sorry about reviving an old thread. I do a little computer work for a large company in town, and they got a new Dell to use as a security system (record video). Dell seems to only see Vista now, and the camera software was not compatible with Vista. Since their entire network is XP, I told them that I would install XP for now, and maybe put Vista on it later. They had some trouble getting XP on it, so they brought it to me.

I played with Vista a little, damn it, they moved the stuff around! Oh well, I did not like XP at first until I played with it some. The boot time was good, and just my general feeling was that it was nice, but I will be keeping XP for a while. I would like one of my machines on Vista just to learn it, Maybe I can get the companies CD at a good price.

Friend of mine just built a $4000 top end pc for music editing/mixing for a client of his, with the client wanting vista. So he did as he is told, built it, installed it, etc....and then realised that all of the music editing programs and stuff dont work with vista, so after all his hard work, he ended up taking the disc outta the machine, snapping it in half and giving it to his client saying here, have an expensive coaster.

This isnt the first I have heard of this either, as most programs dont work with vista yet, and probably wont for some time to come.

Moral to the story, dont upgrade unless its 100% necessary as vista is a piece of **** at the moment
 
I had this just this week. My client brought a brand new computer but his ISP Cd doesnt work with Vista and neither do their printer drivers. So I had to go over there and install it manually. Let me tell you, he wasn't happy about Vistas incompatibilities. I guess in his mind he figured that having the latest and greatest computer at the moment will be the best which is fair enough. I guess something can always be "too new".
