I am working a laptop computer.

It automatically goes to startup repair.

after it runs the repair mode for some time it tells me that cannot repair the problem.

Last succesfull boot time 5/7/2009
Number of repair attemps 23
System Disk = Device harddisk0
Windows Directory = c:\windows
autocheck run =0
number of rootchecks = 1

All different test were succesfull.

Log again.

The machine was given to me after somebody had it for almost 2 years(friend)

I tryed to do a system restore but no restore point available.

Tried to do a las configuration working and no answer.

Being a laptop machine came without windows vista install disk.
Please help

Thanks

In another hard drive that i have i was able to do a restore to original Vista 32 but having problem accesing all the data in the original hard disk.

Would prefer to resolve the problem on the original drive without having to do complete restore with all the documents etc.

Thanks for all the help:eek:

Had the exact same problem on a Sony Vaio for a customer, but he had his restore disks. He already tried to restore from the disks that he had but was having problems with it finishing. I ended up nuking the drive after he signed the nuke release form, ran a diagnostic on the disk checked out good then ran the restore disk and was able restore the laptop back to the manufacture level.

You may need to order the restore disk and do a nuke and pave, if you can't get the restore disk you may need to purchase the OS. If you do that either way I would still nuke the drive before reinstalling.

Yes I did try to run it in safe mode, and it went back to trying to fix automatically. Regarding the disk. I did order the Compaq CD for this machine in particular. And yes about the MBR fix i have done that, also yes i did run utility for the disk and kapersky for virus removal nothing and malware also.

Last thing i did is left disk running hdd regenerator to do a good disk thorough check

And yes i am a tech.
