want 8.1? you forgot that update over there.

restart and install, windows will hangup on update number 15 and never finish the install.

I do I do hate windows 8, I think I will switch to Linux MATE!

Linux here, Linux there, freeware freeware every where.

Switch to Linux if you dare, I promise you, You will stop pulling out your hair.

Windows 8 really sucks on desktops and laptops. I kind of find a liking to it on touch screen especially tablets. I received a windows 8 tablet from a friend, I was not buying a windows 8 tablet. Overall, there are alot of updates. Some I realize are updates that are updating from the last update session..lol. Where is Windows 9? Why the jump to Windows 10?

Where is Windows 9? Why the jump to Windows 10?

Rumours I've heard:
1) some programmers tested for Windows 95/98 by checking the OS name for "Windows 9*". Microsoft wants to avoid breaking compatibility, so they call it Windows 10.
2) it's Windows "1.0", like XBox One and OneDrive.

Don't know if there's any truth to either.

I'd say the first has some truth to it as this version of Windows is getting a whole new version number. Windows 7 is really Ver#6.1

What I dont get is that how, a company with the background of Microsoft, (ie a company that *specialises* in OS development), with all of its resources and expertise, could produce such a total dog of an operating system in this day and age. Its 2014 FFS!

I cringe every time I have to work on it, and it almost never fails to piss me off because of unexplained quirks and issues that would never occur when repairing a 7 machine.

Since when has Windows ever been good? Microsoft has never had to make a good OS to be dominate. End user satisfaction has never been the goal of Microsoft because they are not the buyers of the software. Attempting to address that is one of the reasons Windows 8 is so hated. They ignored the OEMs and major Corporate buyers in attempt to get into the consumer market.
