Windows 7 SUCKS! (rant)

Alright, I know I sounds like a 14 year old when I say this, but I am so frigging frustrated at Windows 7. I never used Vista because I thought it was bad, but I find Windows 7 to be worse than XP still.

Microsoft's way of making windows more secure is to prevent anyone, even you, to use your computer. Something that is supposed to take me less than 2 seconds to do is now turning into hours of research and tweaking. I need to make a new text file in my C: drive. Won't let me. I changed permissions, changed the owner (why the **** should I ever have to do that? I am the administrator) and someone said even disable UAC. I don't see how that would have any effect on this.

Many of the programs that I use can't create new files.

That's not even it still. Strange things happen, like keyboard or mouse don't fully work when the computer starts (I can click but can't move - have to unplug/replug mouse/keyboard -microsoft brand).
Explorer crashes every time I get out of add/remove programs.
Sound recorder is a joke. In XP it was so much more featured and useful. You could record and then immediately listen to check if your mic is working. Now you have to save it first and open it with WMP. It's so much more work.
Ethernet randomly disconnects and has to be disabled/re-renabled (drivers up to date). I had to turn off power management for it. Why isn't that turned off by default if it causes such problems?

Microsoft just puts out a product then it's up to us to work out all the bugs. If you go on the Microsoft's site you can read people complaining about problems and the moderators offering solutions that don't fix them. Then the person comes back saying the solution didn't work and the thread goes dead. Because not even the guys working for MS know how to fix it!

But Hey! There are some good things about it!

-It looks better than XP - so as long as I have something pretty to stare at while I spend hours tweaking the OS, it's all good!

-It's REALLY expensive. At least I can brag about how I spent $174 on the 64-bit ultimate edition so I get to mess around with all the extra features it came with. (after I figure out how to make new files in C: drive)

-It starts faster than XP, so I can get to do what I love most, faster: tweaking Windows! Not to mention sign on Technibble and rant to let my anger out.

Anyway, my rant is over. I didn't know 7 could be such a pain. Glad I got it, because I'd hate to encounter silly things like these when I am fixing a client's computer. I can't possibly recommend 7 to anyone. I would hate to do that then have them call back because this and that doesn't work and then have to drive over there and spend hours on it myself figuring out how to do the simple things.

I just feel that anything could happen with 7. I don't trust it at all.

I have been using Win 7 since it came out and have not had a single problem. I can create text files just fine in the c directory. It is hands-down the best OS that Microsoft has ever made. I have even ran it on a P4 proccessor! I dont know why you are having so many problems. What are the specs of the computer you are running it on?

on mine the right-click menu > new > for C: doesn't have "Text Document"

However, I can copy and paste a text document there with no issue. I do have to OK a UAC prompt.

Mine is Windows 7 Ultimate and it does have "Text Document" under the New menu.

Why

One word will cure all
LINUX!!
No virus, no defrag, no regestry probs. no BSOD
95% of my work is the above micrisoft problems
EERRRR if all used Linux where would all our work come from??

ps XP best microsoft product.:p

+1 for Linux. The last time I even rebooted was about three weeks ago. That was only because I moved my computer. It has it's downsides, but when it comes to stability there is no comparison. If you can get past the setup and configuration you are set. That's where most people are lost.

And I my preference among MS products would have to be XP as well.

I am shocked to here that you are having som many problems with win 7.

I have been using it since the beta version and I can tell you that it has been rock solid. I have installed it on lots of computers and the installations has been flawless.

This sounds like what someone would say the first time they saw an automobile. Where's the damned buggy whip! hell you can't even get inside the damned thing! The wheels are too damned small! Where's the ffing horse!!?>??

I feel your frustration. I had Windows 7 on a older Dell laptop. It was ok but since Dell never released "official" Windows 7 drivers (had to use Vista ones) it never worked as well as it should have. Especially when downloading the performance was very poor.

The final straw that made me give up was my bluetooth wouldn't work no matter what. I ended up ditching it and going back to XP.

you're right, Windows 7, which was released in 2009, should be able to support all hardware released in 2001, 8 years ago.

come on, you install 7 on a laptop not even remotely made to run it and complain about compatibility issues with hardware no longer produced.

I will say with bluetooth as a type of communication standard a very generic featureless driver with bare minimum abilities to run with the largest scope of bluetooth hardware would be good. This still doesn't mean there would be no devices which still fail to work with it.

Actually it is only like 5 years old and the model is listed as compatible with Windows 7. Windows 7 is so revolutionary I would expect it not to work with anything older, not.

+1 .... I have installed and ran the beta, RC, the 90 day Enterprise version and am now running Ultimate .... no problems like the OP is having. The only issues I have had are with old software and learning the gui since I skipped Vista.

I find it to be outstanding and recommend it to anyone ...

Sorry to hear you're having so much difficulty. I, like many others, have been running and installing it for over a year without any problems.

Did you buy this on a new machine, or install it on something you already had? Was it a pretty old system? I'm assuming it's a clean install since you said you never used Vista. If you installed it yourself, there's a chance the install went a little awry, maybe give it another shot!

Good to see problems still popping up I was starting to wonder what I was going to do when everybodys machines were running perfect. A friend of mine was having a few issues with 7 he created a new admin account which sorted a lot of his troubles out? you could try it see what happens.

I have 4 computers at home all running Windows 7 and have had no issue at all with creating files in the root directory. I also have 3 versions of Win7 running in virutalbox, they don't have that problem either. I find it odd that you are.

Many of the programs that I use can't create new files.
I have not run into this issue either.

You willingly and knowingly bought a Microsoft keyboard and mouse?! I have never seen a Microsoft keyboard and/or mouse work like its supposed to. I think its high priced junk, but people seem to buy it. I guess they have a thing for crappy hardware, lol.

It sounds like you have one F***ed up computer on your hands. You either bought sh**y hardware, got his with a virus, or are exaggerating your problem out of anger. The only time I have ever heard of or seen a computer this bad it belonged to a client. It would suck to be one. Good luck fixing that mess, lol, you are going to need it big time!
