Sweet! Thanks for the info. I was just about to PM someone to find out how to get it. I'll just wait until tomorrow and download it myself!

Who else is going to check out Windows 7? Personally, I'm going to replace the Vista that is on my laptop with it.

MS is racing to get this crap out into the market as quickly as possible. MSW7 is nothing more than a cleaned up Vista. So what's the big deal? Sounds like another MS Win98se to me.

It's not going to be like Win95 or XP, its just what Vista should have been if they could have used millions of people as guinea pigs, prior to Vista's original release.

Hi all,
just a warning Microsoft is going to cap the beta downloads at 2.5 million so if your intrested get it asas.
Abe

Has anyone read whether it will install in Virtualbox or something similar?

I had the 32 bit version running in vmware on XP for a little over a week, just install as you would Vista.

Now I have 64 bit version running on this machine with my old XP install running in vmware, for computability with a program I need. The 64 bit performs about like XP, I'm actually kind of disappointed after getting a taste of running Vista 64 on this system for a few days.

Exactly right. I think its funny that some of the same people that praise Vista are drooling over Windows 7. They are really wanting the buggy resource hungry OS to be replaced as bad as I am but will never admit it...lol.

You would think that if Vista was half as great as some on here make it out to be , no one would even bother making the switch.

Some jackass in another thread said " Vista is here to stay just like XP "
I wanna see how many people are still using it in 6-7 years.

No one will be. People will look back on Vista just like they did Windows ME.

Wow wow

Hi all,

Just got my hands on a copy of the new windows OS and it is just amazing it responds real quick, the ease of use is amazing.
I hope M$ keep it this way.

P.S. don't try installing on virtual PC it runs as slow as a turtle, the CPU is up at 100% so i couldn't even open the start menu.

Abe.

Thats odd. I'm running it on MS virtual PC right now and its really fast.

thats real odd, how long did it take you to install and whats specs did you give the virtual machine i tried twice both times it was real slow.
abe.

was you VM in vista or xp and what are the specs on your computer.

i'm running on my laptop 2 gig ram and dual core 1.6 ghz (compaq c700)

Installation was very fast, I gave the VM a 40 gig HDD and 2 gigs of RAM. The VM was set up on XP. (you know how I feel about Vista)

My specs are 2.4 GHz core 2 duo, 4 gigs of PC-6400 RAM, 320 gig SATA drive.

Gunslinger - Are you using the MS Virtual PC? It installed and ran fine on Sun's VirtualBox, BUT it couldn't see the network card. Major problem!

Yes I'm using MS Virtual PC. All is running well here. Much better than Vista and almost as fast as XP. You may want to make sure you install virtual machine additions. You can do so by going to the upper left hand corner click action, then install or update virtual machine additions.

Ok, what am I missing? It seems to me to be Vista with some small interface modifications (taskbar) and it's faster. What's the big deal? I'm wondering because there seems to be a lot of positive talk about this OS and I'm not seeing it. I'm running it in VMware on an XP box.
