I have a client whom is using that crappy Win 10 Video Editor app. The issue is it gets to a certain point and fail with this error. Has anyone had any experience with this stupid app.

I have

  • updated to latest video drivers
  • Downloaded latest codecs
  • Reset the app

Tried System restore?
Completely remove the videocard drivers, reboot twice then reinstall the latest driver?
How did you "reset" the app?
Did you remove it with Powershell? Get-AppxPackage *Photos* | Remove-AppxPackage
Dodgy video card? Try another video card?
Bad stick of ram?
PSU failing? Simple enough to swap out to test.
SFC /scannow?
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth?
DVDStyler nice free (and portable) program.
Shotcut another extremely powerful (and portable) video editor

.....Drink more beer?

Is a laptop, yea did all that. Is just a shite program. Refered client to use another one that I personally use Movavi Video Editor 15 Plus.

I reset the by going to Apps & Features, selecting the app then advanced options.

Well, for my dead simple and small editing, I use Windows Movie Maker. I use it to create adverts and commercials for use in my shop on a couple 32" TV's. Hell yes it works on Windows 10. See below...

Yep - The old Windows Movie Maker works great for simple stuff. If you want a free professional quality editor then DaVinci Resolve is one of the best.

@add - But remember. A video editing workstation along the lines of DaVinci Resolve has an initial steep learning curve. Be prepared to spend some time with tutorials on your initial video projects. The benefit is that it can do just about anything you see done in Hollywood today. One of my favorites is that the new version of Resolve has stabilization available. Immensely welcome on my drone video clips.

I see everyone beat me to it, because I do the same thing Diggs did. The old Windows Movie Maker, but once I found the free DaVinci Resolve I switched to that and never looked back. The latter wound up doing the audition videos for my daughter's band assignments this year too... which turned into 180 students worth of parents asking me to cut their videos for them to save the director time.

I noped up out of that one though, that's a BUCKET of work, not to mention CPU time, and of course no one wanted to pay for it.

Sorry for necro, but I've used the Win 10 Video Editor for minor editing tasks before. It's simple but can be temperamental. DaVinci Resolve is much better, duh.

I've been using the video editor from https://www.movavi.com/ for my projects. It's more stable than the Win 10 app, no major problems to report so far. No silly errors, and quite intuitive to use.
