Win 8.1 download from store

What a PITA.

Toshiba Satellite laptop setting up. Go to update to Win 8.1 and stops at 35%.
Tried downloading MS Fixit and running it. Found and fixed some issues.
Tried downloading again and now it won't go past 0%?
Tried refreshing store cache. No go.

Going back monday morning.
Found this just then, from Toshiba site:
Appendix A: Components that need to be uninstalled prior to updating to Windows 8.1
These components will need to be uninstalled prior to updating to Windows 8.1. However not all these components may be present on your PC. Find the ones that are present and remove as necessary.

Component List

Genesys Logic card reader
Intel PROSet
Intel Wireless Display
Realtek Audio driver
TOSHIBA PC Health Monitor
Realtek WLAN Driver
Realtek Bluetooth Filter Driver Package

Hopefully will work.
Other issue could be trying to install KIS 2014.
Also a tip for those who don't know. Check the Windows logs under C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log for errors or hints why it didn't work.

Moral of this story.
1. I hate Win 8.
2. Check the products site prior to downloading and installing this annoying update.
3. Maybe download the 8.1 iso instead and do fresh install without going through the store.

There is a Windows 8.1 compatibility tool that will tell you which drivers/apps etc are not compatible or need to reinstalled after the upgrade, but yes this is a issue. I have done the same thing initially just doing the update thinking it would be seemless process, but hell know.
