SSD's have come down considerably lately how much more do you think they will come down.
The big players will want to keep the price high like spinning H/D's
SSD's must be much cheaper to manufacture as memory comes down and anybody can make them, not the case with spinning H/D's
The Chinese might start knocking them off cheap as they do with everything
They have done this with phones I think the cheap phones for about $100 or less are decent and getting better
In China they are clamoring to get the $1,500 iPhones as they are such a status symbol

First, what does that have to do with SSD's?

Second:
Apple oracle Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed that demand for the 5.8in iPhone XS has been lower than expected. In a research note seen by Apple Insider, Kuo estimates that the 5.8in flagship has so-far seen "lacklustre demand", accounting for just 10 to 15 per cent of new iPhone shipments.

The iPhone XS Max, however, has been selling in line with expectations, accounting for 25 to 30 per cent of new iPhones sold.

Not exactly "clamoring".

Of course they will come down in price. Given they are solid state I'm sure China already is a major player in that part of the chip market. Of course the big question is how low. Just a year and a half ago a 1tb external drive is around $100 and now they are half that price. The real impact will be when they large sizes come down enough to be used en mass in DC's.

I recall marveling at the capacity of my 4GB flash drive that cost $79 on sale about 10 years ago.

LOL. One of my first flash drives was only 256MB and cost around $290! I bought it from Walmart of all places. It was a PNY flash drive that was disguised as a pen. It actually wrote too! This was back in the day when Walmart still sold floppy disks and recordable VHS tapes and there was actually an entire section in the electronics department for TV antenna's! I'm trying to remember whether they were still selling the N64 at that time. The memories are very hazy. Not exactly surprising seeing as I was 8-9 years old at the time!

EDIT: I also bought my first 80GB 3.5" internal IDE desktop hard drive from Walmart about that time too. That sucker cost about $500. But still, my main computer's hard drive was only 2GB at the time so 80GB was an ENORMOUS amount of storage. I never thought I'd use that much!

As it turns out, I never did. The piece of sh*t died on me in less than 2 years. It was a Western Digital. I swore off of Western Digital drives for YEARS after that out of spite. Looking back it was probably just a piece of crap because I got it at Walmart. LOL. And maybe because it was so cutting edge at the time. They had some 100GB drives available, but they were outrageously expensive and were from weird brands I'd never heard of. And they didn't sell them at Walmart or my local computer hardware store. My best option was the 80GB Western Digital hard drive from Walmart, so that's the direction I chose.

I remember my 1st pc a old 386 having a 200mg drive I think it was.

I upgraded it to a 4.3gb.

a friend from the US sent me her 15gb, and I thought I was the bees knees.

I opened the case and thought wtf. all these wires and cables everywhere. how does this go in here..

the 1st pc I built was a Athlon 2.6. I had 512mb 2×256ddr and I bought 2 x 120gb seagates. thinking id never fill one up yet alone both of them.

these are the days of Napster, when ibwas downloading music from all over the place. (obviously not knowing any better).

it cost me just over £600 for all the parts, took me 2 weeks to put it all together inc loading xp.

that was the start of my pc repair career. back in '98. in an unofficial capacity.

sorry for going way off track here..

If like anything else, they will come down in price AND QUALITY!
You will still have the option to buy a more expensive reliable one, but look for some cheap drives/cheap quality.

I still have a tv antenna. It is on the roof and attached to a tablo. Has DVR and will stream to any device. All for free.
