Why do alot of people not like Norton or McAfee?

RKDus - you don't keep any stock, just buy the licences one at a time, you can keep one or two in stock so that you can take the customers money there and then.
nonchalant-have a look at www.grisoft.com, their free products are rubbish when compared to the professional versions. There's one for every situation. You don't have to be a business to use a paid product - and in AVG's case you do get what you pay for.

So you resell the Pro version? How is it better then the free version? The site doesnt give much info on the differences between the two.
And whats your main selling point when it comes to making a sale seeing as their is a free version available?

If they ask about the free version I say I don't recommend it, however if they wish to do so it's better than nothing but they're on their own. They seldom ask and I don't tell them. Why would I when I can sell them a superior product and make some money? I don't have to sell AVG Pro against AVG Free, I have to sell it against either Norton or McAfee...easy sell, they get better protection, a faster computer for less money.

2. subpar virus detection IMO

Right now I'm loving ESET Smart Security its by far the best I've tried. Although admittingly I haven't used Kaspersky but seems like theres lots of positive opinions on that AV too.

Don't mention it :)

seedubya, I was wondering as a AV reseller, who do you sell your AV too? I assume customers whom you fix PC's for would be a good one but do you also advertise? If so, where do you find you get best 'bang for your buck' in the advertising market?

I am not a fan of either for the full security suites. The university I work for uses the Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition. It seems to work really well, used it for a long time.

I don't like having a virus that disables the anti-virus that was suppose to prevent the virus from infecting my computer in the first place. The version I had years ago scanned sooo slowly.
