who did you use to form an llc?

I used LegalZoom for dba but if I did it all over again I would have just filed it myself probably would have taken less time I would imagine.

second that, for my computer company I had my accountant do it. for my 2nd company he did the paperwork and gave it to me to sign.... In Virginia there isn't much to fill out.... I felt kind of silly for paying him $100 to put my name and the name of the company on the paper along with an address....

I think if you're in CA it's harder than just about anywhere else. Unless you want to spend hours working on it, LZ is the way to go. Think about it for 15 minutes as you fill out web form, and that's it. If time is money (and you are busy), LZ is worth it in CA IMO.

Something else to keep in mind, most forms need to be notarized. I did this by going to the bank I use and they did it for free. So you may be able to save a few bucks by doing this as well, I think UPS charges something around $5 a signature.

Also I would do as much research as possible before filing to ensure your companies name and logo can be used. In my case they ask for proof of your company such as letterheads, business cards, flyers, anything of that nature. Which is kind of ironic your filing this paperwork to see if your company name can be formed or is available, but yet you need business cards already printed...

If you have any concerns over forming your business it is always better to go through a lawyer or legal service such as legalzoom. Could save alot of headache in the long run..

As others have done (here in AZ) I filed for my own LLC. Did a little research and completed the paperwork myself. Cost a little over $100.00 for the LLC + the fees to the city your doing work in.

I think it really depends on where you're located within the USA. In my state, I prefer to not say where I'm from, but all I did was go to the state's commerce website and signed up and paid $125.00 for my LLC. I did not have to go through a lawyer or anything special like that.

I did that in New York but I set up an s-corp.
