OK, I admit it.
My sense of direction when driving is not very good.
To me, a GPS is a necessity.
I have used 2 Garmins in the past and both have developed issues.

I am evaluating a TomTom GoLive 1535M and a Garmin Nuvi 2595 LMT and need to return one or the other in the next couple of days.
I like some features of both and there is no clear winner.

Most of business is in Toronto, Canada (population over 2,000,000).

Does anyone here actually know how the two traffic technologies work on city streets (as opposed to highways)?
I think that the accuracy of the traffic systems should be an important part of my decision.

I have an droid2 and I use Google maps. it has its limitations, but is great, always updated, and hasnt let me down. Sometimes it will take a longer route, but it hasnt been a huge issue, and it seems to learn the routes you use the most.

Like if it wants you to take one road, but knows you always take another road anyways it will stop telling you to take the other road.

telnav for andriod. the pay version 2.99 a month. works great!

used to use google maps but takes to long to find gps signal and route in the beginning. good after that tho.

with smart phone these days i find it hard to justify yet another gadget.

I have a Tom Tom, my HTC Thunderbolt, and a Pioneer AVIC add-on for my Pioneer flip-up headunit.

I use a Tom Tom and an android phone. The traffic and nav function of my phone work fine, plus being able to enter destinations by voice, make it my first choice.
The Tom Tom is easier to mount and read on the go. I've never used the traffic function on it, though.

If you have an iPhone or android then try out 'Waze', it's a free navigation app with full voice and community traffic reports. I use it daily and it works great most of the time (there are a few occasional issues)

Been using a GPS branded a Mio. Just a cheapy with not many bells and whistles. It was a gift so I can't complain. This thing is a veteran too, over 3 years in service!

I use a tomtom as I didn't have an android phone at the time but I would not use google maps as it would not start for me once in Edinburgh when I needed it but I might try some of the apps suggested above.
