I have a customer who brought in a computer that was essentially punched. In doing this it broke parts of the hard drive and their is nothing i can do. Im looking for some places that can still attempt to get data off of the broken hard drive that i can refer him too. I already told him its going to very expensive, but he says its worth it to him. Any known, reputable places would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It may not need to be that expensive, unless the heads are bad. You may want to try us first since it will only be $300 if we can recover the data, no charge if not. If we can't recover it, then you could try a company mentioned above (although personally I would recommend Platinum Data Recovery if we can't recover it). We have a clean room for diagnosis, but don't replace heads, if that is indeed the problem (which we can't know until diagnosing it properly).

Fyi, if you send a drive to one place, they open it, even just to look at it, then send it to another recovery lab, the second place generally charges an additional premium.

First of all, just want to say thanks to Luke for the mention. :)

What exactly are the symptoms of the hard drive? Knowing that would make it easier to know if you can get away with sending it to the budget data recovery place ($300) or should send out to a full service data recovery company.
